Nothing.

But I can add 2 and 2 and get 4.

Buxton has always appeared to me, and has been reported as, earnest and hard working.

Sano has...not. For one thing--and I know this is unpopular around here among some--he is overweight.

I think I recall Halsey saying the opposite about Sano’s and Buxton’s ‘earnestness’ when it came to some of the workouts and drills during ST, but that was maybe a year ago or so. Can’t quite remember exactly what he said but I remembered being surprised thinking it was the opposite. But things change and I don’t know the current state of either of their ‘earnestnesses’

Is the training facility better at Fort Myers?

Less travel. More getting in shape.

I think it is.

I remember that as well.  I don't think it was even that long ago it was said.

Getting in shape is not some quick turn around. Are we going to keep Sano in high A ball for the next 3 months because their training facilities are slightly nicer?

A message being sent to guys on the roster that they can be...moved.

Can Granite play center and ignite? What is the fate of Grossman and LaMarre? Is Kepler suddenly looking at AAA time?

Can the Twins bring up a catching bat better than they have?

What to do about DH. Morrison a trust cause or a lost cause?

Do you start dangling Lynn and Gibson for some offense, not to mention any of the already overworked bullpen arms.

Will the front office see any issues with the coaching staff (beyond the NOT RIDE THE DANG BULLPEN CAR) and the field manager?

There are so many movable parts on this team and the value of each part changes daily, more often than not on a downward slide.

What veteran got a message the last few days?

I’d guess it’s more than slightly

Not sure. The current plan isn’t working.

I just don't get this. Our offense has been trash as a whole. If we have these great coaches and conditioning guys in Fort Myers, lets get them with the big league team because the whole damn lineup needs their help.

I feel like I'm going to be eating crow about being adamant last offseason that trading Sano would've been a horrible move. Now I wonder if his value will ever be higher than it was.

I think it is a good move. Right now I am not sure he can hit AAA or AA pitching. Teams have figured out how to pitch to him. If I can see that you don't have to throw strikes to get him out I am sure big league scouts can see this. He will get himself out consistently on sliders low and outside. Something needed to happen and I hope this helps.

Tun in tomorrow and see the answers to these and many other questions.

Same Bat time, same Bat channel.

Good. It's pretty difficult for me to understand how anyone could question this.

Agreed. He's been a check swinging mess all year. And the full swings he does have he's missing pitches he should crush out of the ballpark.

Honest question: How is facing high A pitchers going to help improve his ability to hit major league breaking balls? Wouldn't he be better served getting his practice in at triple A (or double A) where the pitchers have much better stuff? The worst pitchers in MLB are going to have way better stuff than 99.99999% of the high A pitchers.

The facilities in Fort Myers are MLB quality. The ones in Rochester and Chattanooga are not. Not even close.

What's Sano batting right now? What makes you think he can hit A ball pitchers?

Most major league batters make adjustments when they go into an extended slump. Has Sano just tried to hit a single lately? Tried for a walk? Seems like he wants to hit a home run or strike out (so he doesn't have to run the bases?). Perhaps a reminder that major league players need to at least try to get on base.

A lot of people are asking why A ball?  If you watched the Detroit series where did every pitch against Sano get thrown?  Outside corner or beyond.  What did Sano try to do with those pitches?  With the exception of swatting one into right field, he tried to pull them out of the park...and I'm not talking a little bit.  He was opening up his front shoulder and pulling his head.  He had no chance of hitting the ball.  What would you do if you were coaching a little leaguer who was doing that?  You should break down his swing and get him back on track.  Sano won't hit AAA pitching doing what he's doing.  He will struggle at every level if he keeps doing what he's doing and sending him down to A ball should make that crystal clear.

He had little value this offseason when the sexual harassment became public. Additionally he was coming off of injury.

The only path is to invest in his upside. The return in trade then and now is not going to move the needle. Thoughts of getting a return of Archer or Realmuto pure folly.

I guess the FO is fully behind Molitor despite him now managing over two complete system failures.

Frankly, Kepler could use some time in the minors right now, too.  Since Sano got back, he's posted a 600 OPS and Kepler's posted a .603 OPS.  (Kepler's posted a .629 OPS since May 1).

One step at a time. Wilson, Grossman and LaMarre are next. Then Dozier, Morrison and Kepler.

Mejia had another nice game this evening -- 6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 6 K, 95 pitches.

Also, Astudillo (.297 BA) is playing 3B so Rupp can catch.

Military and other management have been consistently guilty of mismanaging injuries. Sano & Buxton are just the 2 latest examples. Buxton had a broken toe. Rather than letting the toe mend, they activated him to play on that broken toe. His game, largely based on speed, quickness and running fast, was clearly a mess. I had a terrible time watching him clearly in pain while he played. I assume we are lucky he didn’t aggravate the injury to the point he deeds surgery.

Sano, too, has been playing injured. He’s clearly unable to shift weight to his left when batting and watching him attempt to run out a grounder is painful. As a 300 lb young man he could function at times. As an even larger young man on one leg, he cannot help anyone. He needs to get to Ft Myers, get into better shape and then find out if his injured leg is fixable or career ending. We need Sano very badly, but we need him not just sans a bad leg, but we need him a lot less porcine.

Miguel is critical to our near and long term success, but not weighing 17% of a ton and not on one leg.

Motter's only hitting .590 OPS at AAA, but that hasn't stopped the Twins from calling up guys who don't hit at AAA very well. I imagine Motter will have this roster spot until Polanco returns, so he's got a few weeks to try and prove he belongs on the roster.
