I just got an update from MLBTR regarding this signing, it didn't say if it was a major or minor league deal.

I'd much rather go back to Busenitz or Curtis and I'd really like to finally give Bard and Reed a look. I have no problem adding another lefty either, Moya and Mejia could get another shot also. I really hope this is a minor league deal, but it sure happened fast. I don't know that a vet like Belisle jumps on another minor league deal that quickly. His release from Cleveland was just announced 2 hours ago.

I'm probably in the minority, but I actually endorse this move.  Just crazy enough that it might work.  I predict that Dozier will start one of his patented hot streaks today, and we can forever debate if the two things are somehow related in any way.

I look at it as its better to have Molitor abuse a veteran arm - Belisle was pretty good in the closer role last year - although not sure what Busenitz has to do to get get a call-up.

I wonder how permanent this is. Petit hasn't been playing but when Mauer, Polanco and Buxton come back, a pitcher will likely have to go (you can drop LaMarre and Adrianza but after that there's nobody to drop). Will they drop Belisle then or send a young guy down.

 

This is likely a meh move. My level of frustration will depend on whether they use him in a high-leverage situation. I don't mind giving him some up-big or down-big innings to see if he can become an okay piece. But I don't think he will and hope they have a quick hook when the third of Mauer, Polanco and Buxton come back.

Regardless of how permanent this is, why make the move at all? Cleveland is desperate for bullpen help, even signing the rotting corpse of Oliver Perez... He couldn't make Cleveland's roster, but is good enough for us?

I assume you mean another minor league pitcher that the big league club refuses to bring up?

Why bother having relief pitchers on the 40 man (Busenitz, Curtiss, Moya) when THEY don't think there are as good as a pitcher that got demoted and cut from the team we are chasing?
