spanman2 Verified Member Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 Pressure is 110% on New York...baseball world outside of Yankee fans want New York to lose...has no bearing on the game but lets roll with it anyway! Twins are young enough in certain aspects of the team to not know any better of past struggles in the Bronx. Through in some veterans who have been there before and a Hall of Fame player as manager who has been there before as a player along with Big Erv vs. the kid and it should be a great ball game. ThejacKmp Provisional Member Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 6 run 7th sounds great. Do we win though? Similar fate to Joe Smith? Multiple wives? Sounds great in some ways but it means multiple mothers-in-law. Also reminds me of Oscar Wilde's quote. "Bigamy is having one wife too many. Monogamy is the same" I was referring more to the fact that he was lynched at age 38. That would give me five more years. The many wives is a potentially solid silver lining but man, getting lynched seems like a high price to pay. Blake, glunn, Dantes929 and 3 others 6

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2017 Author Posted October 3, 2017 I've told both the thesaurus and the Armageddon jokes in the last week. Can't be a coincidence. My only conclusion is that Riverbrian is either my wife or my 5th grade son. I'm betting on 5th grade son. Yeah... I noticed that to. Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2017 Author Posted October 3, 2017 So.... who's gonna start at DH today? I'd say there's a miniscule chance Sano starts. I was at the game Sunday and he just looked so uncomfortable. Grossman did not play when the Twins faced Severino last. Vargas started that game at first (Joe at DH), and was 1-1 against Severino. Would you dare start Vargas? I 99.9% would not. I'd presume Grossman gets the start, batting 9th like he has lately, with instructions to draw long at bats and get on base for Dozier and Mauer. I'd say the rest of the lineup will be trivial. Castro, Mauer, Dozier, Polanco, Escobar, Rosario, Buxton, Kepler. Normally I'd say Vargas because I like guys who hit the ball out of the park at any moment. With Sano out of the lineup... Vargas is next guy up for that role. However... since today is Yankee Stadium with a right field fence only 140 feet from home plate. Any left handed hitter will do so I'll settle for a guy who can put the ball in play. glunn, Blake and Respy 3

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2017 Author Posted October 3, 2017 In honor of Tom Petty, let's "Breakdown" this game... The Twins are "Runnin' Down a Dream" as they try to get the monkey off their back against the Evil Empire. Ervin's already said "I Won't Back Down" to people like Aaron Judge and Gary Sanchez. So hopefully he won't "Surrender" more than a couple of runs tonight. A lot of national experts may say "You Don't Know How It Feels" to be in a playoff game in regards to the Twins. But you know what? "Even the Losers" make it to the playoffs every now and again. And they "Learn to Fly" with the best of the best. So "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" and get this game underway! Alright... I like this approach. RIP Tom Petty... I enjoyed all your albums. Your loss was the biggest Heartbreaker of all. Will the Twins win today "I Need to Know". "The Waiting" is the hardest part and we are a still hours from game time. the answer is isn't immediate because first pitch isn't until tonight. There will be no talk of "You Got Lucky". when it comes to these Twins, if you do feel that way... "Don't come around here no more". Have a "Change of Heart", quit "Jammin Me" with those negative vibes and "I'll feel a whole lot better". I know "I won't back down" because we are "Runnin down a dream" The Yankees will be "Free Fallin". Jerr, twinsnorth49, glunn and 6 others 9
