Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Stop freaking out Twins fans. This is big value. For those who don't understand, typically when the player being traded has "yet to be named", it usually means you're not giving up a top prospect. It has not been announced as a PTBNL. The trade just hasn't been announced yet. I do agree it won't be a "top prospect" but it will be interesting to see who it is. Oxtung, d-mac and Homer Hanky 3

cmoss84 Verified Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Jaime has a lot of experience, and most AL hitters have yet to have faced him. Also gives us an option to vary our arms in the rotation and put less pressure on Berrios.Santana (RHP)Jaime (LHP)Jose (RHP)Mejia (LHP)Whoever is pitching least worst Hosken Bombo Disco, wabene, bluechipper and 2 others 5
Tom Froemming Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Hopefully the Twins are taking on 100% of what's left on his contract, I don't see why they wouldn't, in order to soften the return. But I'm sure it will hurt, the Braves aren't just giving him away. My assumption is whoever is going to Atlanta will be someone Falvine is not enamored with. Someone they don't believe will reach their potential. Oldgoat_MN 1
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted July 21, 2017 Author Posted July 21, 2017 Doing exactly what they said, not mortgaging future. Cue the "I can't believe we gave up _______ for Jamie Garcia comments.I remember the Lew Ford for Shannon Stewart and Tyler Ladendorf for Orlando Cabrera freakout My favorite one was... "We gave up Yohan Pino for Carl Pavano!" Oldgoat_MN, gunnarthor, Craig Arko and 10 others 13
D.C Twins Verified Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 6.2 innings per start this year with a 1.3 WHIP and 4.3 ERA?! This is exactly what we need as a#4/5 starter and when you compare this to 3-4 innings per start with an 8-9 ERA…this is VERY helpful.BUT, we need to see the price of course. One for one makes me worried that this is going to be a higher ranking prospect than we would like to see… (hopefully more 15-20 than 11-15….anything higher than 20 is fantastic)
Intramural Legend Verified Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Maybe they are getting salary relief on Hughes with him out for the season. That could lead to them having a way to convince ownership that it is worth a salary dump trade by the braves as they can take it on
Han Joelo Verified Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Travis Bowyer and Billy Bullock come to mind at a time like this. Don't even remember who they went for.

He'd have to be like the Twins 50th ranked prospect or something. d-mac, Oldgoat_MN, Tom Froemming and 1 other 4
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Per LEN we might be getting a minor leaguer back as well so maybe the cost is someone in our 15-25 prospect rankings (per pipeline, those guys would be Javier, Thorpe, Burdi, Hildenberger, Reed, Melotakis, Granite, Baddoo, Miranda, Ynoa. Melo was already available so it's not him. Burdi is injured, Hildenberger and Granite are in the majors, Javier and Thorpe would cause this website to burn down. Ynoa, Miranda and Baddoo are too young to get rid of yet. Reed? howieramone2 and Oldgoat_MN 2
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Could still involve Melotakis, he is slightly more valuable now that he isn't using a 40-man spot. Assuming he wouldn't be selected in Rule 5 this winter. I doubt he would be the primary piece, though. gunnarthor 1

mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Could it be Kohl Stewart? It better not be, although come to think of it thats probably about where his value currently sits

Respy Provisional Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 I think this is a good move. Jaime has posted a positive WAR in every season except his rookie season. Jaime is 31 and his fastball is being clocked his highest ever this year (granted, only 91.5 mph). I guarantee the Twins prospect will be a player we are quite familiar with, but it's not going to be an A-grade or even B-grade prospect. I'd expect it's someone between 10-25 on the Twins top prospect list.
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Braves SN site is pushing names like Baddoo (Georgia native), Javier, Kiriloff (they know that won't happen), Garver, Melo and Jay. I'm sure they mentioned others but that's what I saw reading their comments. https://www.talkingchop.com/2017/7/20/16006774/mlb-trade-rumors-atlanta-braves-jaime-garcia-minnesota-twins Oldgoat_MN and howieramone2 2

We apparently have a weak farm system except when we trade someone and we gave up a future HOF. That said, I really hope we aren't trading Baddoo. 70charger, DJSim22, Hosken Bombo Disco and 4 others 7
AZTwin Verified Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Well Braves fans think they'll get at least Kiriloff in return. Another suggested possibly Byron buxton KirbyDome89 1

AZTwin Verified Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Give them Aaron slegers and Daniel Palka. That's fair d-mac, diehardtwinsfan and twinssouth 3
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Palka's likely to be dropped from the 40 this winter (if not earlier). He's not in this trade as anything more than a secondary piece.

Twinsoholic Verified Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 It might be Vielma the AAA shortstop or Stewart or Park or Garver. Eachhad qualities that could entice the Braves.
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 (edited) on mlbtraderumors, someone was posting that Brave fans are hearing that it's Blankenhorn. He's hitting .233/.341/.410 in Cedar Rapids but is currently our #7 prospect, per pipeline (although they haven't done a mid-season update yet). Edited July 21, 2017 by gunnarthor
