USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 According to Rhett Bollinger at MLB, Boshers back to Rochester after today's game. Melotakis? Chargois? Edit: Brandon Warne speculates possibly Tepesch, with a 40 man move.

After the way Gibson was beat around, Boshers is the odd man out?
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Tepesch would be a little underwhelming. The best drop candidates on the 40-man are also on the 25-man, no? Murphy, I guess.

David HK Verified Member Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Well, I'm having some crow for breakfast, after ripping on Boshers coming up- and he was about the only decent thing the Twinks had on the mound. Other than Gimenez. And the much-maligned Breslow. Gibby. Sheesh...
Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 The best drop candidates on the 40-man are also on the 25-man, no? Buddy tops my list
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 The 40 man move could still be Adrianza.
drjim Provisional Member Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Tepesch makes the most sense. They need to prepare for innings to back up Hughes. Finally acting like a modern team.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Tepesch probably is the right choice for right now, though he will draw a collective yawn, at best.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Will it be Buddy's year to be on the AAA-MLB elevator?
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 I remember hearing that Molitor wanted Tepesch on the Opening Day roster, but Haley was kept instead. Since our long reliever is hurt, I think they'll add Tepesch and probably DFA Adrianza off the roster.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Sounds like Tepesch, with O'Rourke to the 60-day DL, has been confirmed by the Strib's Phil Miller, via Reusse: http://m.startribune.com/boshers-arrives-gets-7-quick-outs-and-he-s-headed-back-to-rochester/420190053/
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Who?Tepesch. I'm pretty sure it's a Spanish appetizer.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Who?Haha good one. I see what you did there, but he pitches for the Rays now.
kab21 Verified Member Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Boshers was nothing more than a warm body and he won't be available for a few days so he is gone. It is interesting to see them make a 40 man move but somehow with a 13 man staff they still don't have anyone left in the bullpen.

Unless you count Gimenez. But they still have 8 relievers.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Just cut him already. I'm not just thinking this about Boshers. Cut Santana, cut Tonkin, Cut Boshers, Cut Breslow already. Kyle Gibson is pretty close to being on this list, I can't believe I am not the only Twins fan that would like someone else to get the opportunity's he is getting here elsewhere. These guys have all been given their opportunity to help this franchise win and none of them help. For me I just wish they would give the opportunity's they have been giving to these types of players to somebody else.Danny Santana, just done with the endless mistakes and lackadaisical attitude,he needs his opportunity to go to somebody else. Just to many players filling the 40 and 25 man rosters that cannot help this team win baseball games. Even Kennys Vargas seems like he has been given endless opportunity and never comes through. Would be nice if this regime would show they are different and give some new people some opportunity. Perhaps this group can have success elsewhere. There are just to many players on this roster that will never move this team forward towards winning. I would rather the team show some life and give some new faces the opportunity to succeed or fail. We have been seeing the same bad actors for 2 to 3 years now produce the same results.Kennys Vargas doesn't have a full season of plate appearances in his career.
Old Twins Cap Verified Member Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Still, you have to admire the Twins. Carrying 13 pitchers, and, needing to bring in a position player to finish the game against the Tigers. Twins were right all along. Short on pitching. Not that they did anything to address that.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Seriously though, congrats to Chi-Wei Hu
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 My god....a 13 man pitching staff and we're throwing position players out there. I just....wow. That nice start feels like 4 years ago already.
Guest Guests Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 This team was driven off the tracks over the past few years. The rebuild is going to be more involved than many fans want, but the problem isn't that Gibson, Danny Santana, Tonkin and many others are on the roster, the problem is that there is nobody to replace them, even after all the years of losing during which we continually heard about a horde of great young players who were going to lead to great success.

Oldgoat_MN Verified Member Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 I would not be surprised if Tepesch is called up to be the new long relief guy. After all, Hughes has a start coming up.
howeda7 Verified Member Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 I love how the front office is hand-wringing about the 40 man. Santana is trash. Tonkin is trash. Breslow is no loss. I would shed no tears over Gibson. If the people who can help up us are not on the 40-man who cares? Get them up here.
Rosterman Verified Member Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Again, quit with the Mickey Mouse roster moves. You rebuild. You look at guys that will be Twins now and in the future. YOU ARE NOT a place people come to keep their career going. If you fail in Minnesota, where you have every opportunity to shine and make it, you go. If we grab minor league free agents and such, make sure they have the potential to help the Twins more than just as POSSIBLE tradebait in mid-season. At the most, send the Santanas and Tonkins and such back to the minors ONE MORE TIME and MAYBE give them another shot to stick. AT MOST! We have 8 guys in the bullpen and 4 starters and we have to drag out a catcher to get three outs. Go figure!

I think the next pitcher transaction is Pressly. DL or AAA. Something needs to happen. 6 extra base hits, including 3 HR over his last 4 outings, covering less than 4 IP. Something is wrong. It reminds me of what happened to Trevor May last year. And we know where he is now.
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Tepesch makes the most sense. They need to prepare for innings to back up Hughes. Finally acting like a modern team. This might be a yawned, but it's the right and smart move. Haley, your long man, is out for now. This allows Duffey to email in his role, and not make the mistake of casting someone like Tonkin in to a role he's not suited for. And with a 4 man rotation for the next couple of weeks, you don't need Berrios just yet. Hughes has been far better than I ever expected, and will hopefully continue to improve. But he remains a question mark, and Gibson is a HUGE question mark at this point. You need that long man and this is the right, temporary move. And as Brock pointed out in another post, the Twins just don't have the depth, at the moment at least, to just dump Gibson. Like it or not, he's going to get a couple more starts to see if he can find himself.

I "liked" your post because I love the passion and agree with part of what you say, but not all of it, however. I also very much want to see other young talented players who may very well be part of the future get their opportunity. But I do think you may be jumping the gun a bit. Vargas still has limited opportunity. Tonkin has a shot though there are others who may displace him fairly soon. (He hasn't always been used properly). Breslow, in limited opportunity, hasn't done anything wrong yet, and Melotakis and Jay are in AA, with their seasons just getting going. In fact, the ML season is barely 3 weeks old. As frustrated as we are at times, this is already a better Twins team than last season, despite some disappointing performances. I believe changes will be forthcoming. I believe the roster will actually be in flux for much of the season. But April isn't even done yet.
