DaveW: Dodgers trade for Dozier to be completed within the next 24 hours

Question: Is Falvey or Levine spearheading this trade?  Just trying to get a gauge on who really is responsible for the acquisition of players?

OTOH, while I'd like to see this done, I'm not real concerned yet because I think that both men come from organizations that have generally done fairly well with trades. That should prove to be valuable here, and until proven otherwise, I have to presume they know the limit to push.

Dodgers fan here, what do you guys think of Buddy Boshers as a possible second piece from your side?

You got him - what else to we get?

Dozier & Boshers for De Leon, Bellinger, and Stewart. What do you say?

Sorry, don't know how to quote on this but @baseball bat I wouldn't do that because IMO stewart is ridiculously underrated, also I see him more as a possible future closer than a starter. What are your guys opinions on Ross Stripling? I haven't seen his name thrown around at all on here.

I agree Stewart is underrated that is why many of us in this thread have been wanting him. Ross Stripling doesn't do a ton for me but some people have thrown is name out there. Would you for sure include De Leon and Bellinger in a trade for Dozier? I would honestly probably accept a trade that is straight up De Leon and Bellinger for Dozier from the Twins side.

My vote for a second piece would be Tanner English or Zach Granite. Both are likely to reach the majors based on their skill set, but most likely in a 4th OF role. Not sure on the Dodgers needs, but a guy like that is a solid low risk addition.

Take July & August out of the year and Boshers was amazing.

He finished with a very strong September (13 games, surrendering only a .398 OPS).

Probably would be a good addition to most bullpens.

Isn't Alvarez already a lottery ticket?

No. Alvarez is a legit prospect.

A lottery ticket from our system, just for reference, would be someone like Lewis Thorpe.

IMO, DeLeon AND Alvarez/Bellinger is already an overpay by the Dodgers, and Falvey better be careful he doesn't sour the deal quibbling for more.

Not yet.

Anyways the update is this:
My source is perplexed this deal hasn't gotten done yet. It sounds like the Twins are really playing hardball and he/she is hearing chatter that there might be another team that the Twins may re-engage to drive up some of their leverage with the Dodgers. Still could happen at any moment, but the sticking point at this stage is still player 3 (and player 4 potentially)

I'm guessing De Leon & Alvarez are set, but the Twins won't give up on Lux.  I think they should stick to their guns and see if the Dodgers blink.  What's the worst that can happen?  We open 2017 with Dozier at 2B and a bunch of question marks on the mound.  Even if they  get the players they covet, odds are more likely they turn out to be Gomez, Humber & Mulvey than Bonser, Liriano & Nathan.  All prospect deals are crapshoots.  With no urgency to unload Dozier there is no need to settle for less than they want in return.

Team will not get significantly better without trading Dozier.  He will not be as good as he is now when the Twins are good again, and he blocks a decent prospect from playing his best position.  You might win by holding Dozier until the trading deadline and hope a contender has a big hole at 2nd base, but usually there are several teams out of it at that time and teams have options of players to buy, so will not overpay(especially for position players, pitchers are another group).

I think they have to deal him now. He's more likely to hit 18 Homers than 28 next year. The Twins haven't had an opportunity like this in years.

Legit prospects can't be lottery tickets? Alvarez has great potential, but his likelihood of being a bust is so much greater than every other player discussed, he's a cross your fingers and pray kind of guy if one ever existed.

Alvarez and Bellinger are completely different kinds of prospects but for some reason continue to be lumped together in this thread.
