Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 If someone can hide Danny Santana in a closet somewhere, that way Molly doesn't get any wise ideas about playing him at SS, I'm going to be a happy guy.

drivlikejehu Verified Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 I guess I'm confused why Polanco hasn't played any SS in Rochester.

King Provisional Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Fantastic. He hit great in AAA. 23 now time to show what he can do. Play him everyday for the rest of the season.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Great to see. Now the question is will Mollie play him.

John Kelsey Verified Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 I guess I'm confused why Polanco hasn't played any SS in Rochester. Because he's bad at it. Then again so are Eduardo Nunez and Danny Santana and Moliter has started them at short plenty so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 With Nunez gone, we also have an open leadoff spot. Hopefully that gives Polanco the edge over Santana...
beckmt Verified Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Best question is will Molly be forced to play Polanco. To me not playing him is a firing offense.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Can they hide him in the closet with you?Hey oh!Not sure there's enough room in the closet I'm thinking about hiding D. Santana in. For example:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVSt-X1n0es
jorgenswest Verified Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 I don't know why Polanco has not played SS at AAA. If it was because Tovar is much better defensively, that is unfortunate and we need a new AAA manager. It should be about developing players first. Perhaps Polance can be a below average SS with a better than average bat. There is a place for those skills at SS in the majors. I am sure that he would be a better defensive SS had he been playing there this year.

To me not playing him is a firing offense. There is no chance the interim GM has power to make Molitor play anyone considering the statements made by Pohlad. But I do suspect that Molitor will let Polanco play short for a few games. But if he goes 1-7 in his first two games, maybe the lure of Danny Santana is too great?

I am sure that he would be a better defensive SS had he been playing there this year. It's not the AAA manager's call how to use the players there. Really makes zero sense that the Twins didn't play him there if they had any willingness to have him play that spot in the Majors. Even if you factor in that his ultimate destination is 2B, it still doesn't make sense. Just another one of those inexplicable mistakes the Twins make.
magiklair Provisional Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Now let him play and we'll see what kind of player he is in the majors..
HitInAPinch Verified Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 This all feels....reasonable. This feeling is foreign to me.Trade Nunez, an infielder, for a MiLB pitcher who needs more MiLB time, opening a spot to call-up an infielder, i.e. Polanco. Almost like it was planned.
Comrade Bork Verified Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 If someone can hide Danny Santana in a closet somewhere, that way Molly doesn't get any wise ideas about playing him at SS, I'm going to be a happy guy.OMG can you imagine?! Molly gives Polanco a few days on the bench to acclimatize to the majors... If DSan is in the infield tonight we really know who is running this team and perhaps we fired the wrong guy, or not enough of the right ones Though he has reps at third too, and our defense there can't get much worse right now either
tobi0040 Verified Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 I am glad he is up, but I see two possibilities here. We are trading Dozier to make room for Polanco at 2B Or We are going to play yet another young player at a position he hasn’t played in a while. If we keep Dozier, you think we maybe could have played the guy at SS and 3B a bit in the minors? It is called putting a player in a position to succeed. A novel concept.
