A sub 1.00 ERA. Absolutely. In all seriousness, you get people who bail on Mauer after 30 at bats, but nobody ever jumps on the bandwagon when someone starts out hot.

I voted No (but he'll get in the next year).

 

I know that's controversial, but I just don't think his total body of work is there yet. I'm going to need to see 10 to 15 more innings before I can really judge whether he belongs on the first ballot.

Since he's been compared favorably to Tom Glavine on TD, and Glavine just got in the Hall on the first ballot, I'm wondering:

 

Why hasn't the Clemente rule been invoked and Gibby already been inducted, pre-posthumously?

Must be Gibby's having been drafted in the first round that gets him HoF buzz after only one very strong start instead of two, like future Korean Baseball Organization Hall of Famer Andrew Albers.

I have to disagree with the emerging consensus here. His salary of $502,500 is going to hamstring the front office for years, and the sportswriters are going to crucify him when the time comes.

However, it may be early to giving any serious thought to the Hall of Fame for Gibson.

 

Nope. Too early for first ballot? Maybe. But He and collabello are pretty hof locks.
