    This is a ridiculous argument we are having. Without doing any research, I would bet that ALL 30 teams in MLB carry 3 or more catchers on their 40 man. Heck, we got a top 30 prospect for one of the worst players in the league last year. It just so happened that he was a catcher. You have to keep at least 3 on the 40 man. Otherwise, if a 25 man catcher goes down, you have to make a tough roster decision and risk losing a good player to another teams 40. It is much easier to stash someone on the 40 than stashing them on the 25 man roster. Also, we are arguing about a guy who probably doesn't/wouldn't factor into the Twins top 30 prospects this coming year (Jones) Like someone already stated, this isn't fantasy baseball. You don't keep 30 RP because they have "upside" to someday make the big leagues. One more thing, Jones was taken in the 2nd round of the draft meaning he every team passed on him once. The Brewers are highly unlikely to keep 2 rule 5'ers on the roster all year.

    Is this normal (touching 90,working upper 80s)? Are we looking at a best case scenario of Tommy Milone? Not saying that would be terrible from a left handed pitching prospect. I guess we would all be pretty happy if he turned into Tommy Milone right?

    I don't pay attention, but is this sarcasm or for real? If sarcasm...haha, funny. If real, does 20+ innings of scoreless baseball mean anything? Or the fact that we are 13-5 this month, and Boyer has pitched amazing during that streak...also, Isn't smoke and mirrors what pitching is? If it wasn't smoke and mirrors wouldn't the pitcher just say..."Hey! I'm fixin' to throw a fastball middle-in on this pitch." I will assume sarcasm

    Except that the perception around baseball is that this is a good team. They are playing good baseball so why do we have to decide what it 'means?' It means we aren't the worst team in the league...don't be so negative

    Which would be ok. How many top 20 guys make it? Look at our top prospects and major league guys right now. Santana was not a top dollar guy. Polanco, if I remember correctly, was thought to be a stud defensive SS but still signed for around 600k. Pinto was not a 7 figure guy. The only 7 figure guy we have who should make the big leagues is Sano, and even he has his doubters. Kepler and the young Ozzie were fairly high but still not 7 fig. I would much rather have the Twins philosophy of your one big guy, followed by lots of smaller signings spread throughout the world. I don't know how good it is to blow through your budget unless you go the route of the Yankees and just sign everybody who is asking for 7 figures. The Dodgers will also do that this year, but it is an expensive way to do things and only a few teams have that capability.

    why isn't vargas playing for the viqueens right now? Not even at LT, but the fastest rush end in the game. btw bulldozier is legit...ps is that arcia in left for the A's? Hunter? Schafer?

    Not one prospect list has polanco ahead of gordon. I read all of them and although polanco is a good prospect, gordon was just drafted number 5 overall. Gordon most likely will stay at a premium position whereas most scouts think polancos arm will not play at short. So...blah

    I am going to have to respectfully disagree. Sure he will be a free agent in his 30's, but why would you trade a month for a full year? It isn't just bad for business, it is bad baseball. Sure, he might end up a reliever, or even flame out and be a nobody...but no team in the league starts rookies in April (minus Hicks which really turned out nicely).
