  1. Looking at Kirillof's stats, one thing is for sure, when he's up, the ball (almost always) gets put in play. Just 11 strike outs and 2 walks in 90 AB's. Not sure if I should be concerned about the lack of walks, but I do like the everything else so far. Maybe they should give him a taste of the midwest league before the season is over.
  2. Good luck to them all. Zach Larson is the only one on this list that I'm a little uneasy about the Twins letting him go. He seemed to show some potential before the hamstring injury. Wish the Twins could have given him one more year in the system but oh well. Again, good luck...
  3. So will the Twins let this kid get his feet wet in the DSL or will they just wait till next year?
  4. I just get the feeling that Thorpe will look great for a month or 2. Then he'll get pulled in the 2nd inning and soon after we'll hear the news we've been dreading. I'm sorry but its so rare these days that a player is able to successfully rehab even a partially torn UCL and have it hold up long term.
  5. For the 1st time ever I can honestly say that my disdain for the people that run the Twins outweighs my love for the team itself. Maybe I'm just not the diehard Twins fan that I thought I was, but I'm finding it harder and harder to even maintain interest in this team.
  6. MILB should partner up with the American Association League, make it a short season league a step above the Appy league, and have the Saints affiliate with the Twins. The Twins would have a better place to put their college draft picks and many of us could watch some prospects without driving 5 hours away. A guy can only dream...
  7. Agreeing with Bremer about the bunt. Bert thinks its a bad move to bunt with 2 outs nobody on. I say if a free base is handed to you, you take it weather there are 2 outs or not.
  8. Derek has Berrios in the pen while May is in the rotation. That is completely illogical to me
  9. I honestly don't know. But I think that most high school draftees that don't sign, wouldn't get much interest from, say, a Japanese team. Aiken most certainly would however.
  10. I'm honestly not sure this applies here. If Aiken doesn't sign by the deadline, he is no longer tied to a ML team in any way. Even if Japan isn't an option, I would advise him to just hook up with an independent team. That way he can get his work in and still be available for next year's draft. I'm sure the Saints could make room for him.
  11. This didn't sit right with me when the story 1st came out. I hadn't realized until I read drjim's post informing me that the offer was 40% of slot and that is the amount that gets you a pick the following year should the player reject it. After seeing that, the Astros look downright pathetic from where I sit.
  12. Sample size isn't so small anymore. It appears the Appy League just isn't a challenge for Max Murphy. Time to see what the local boy can do in the MWL I think.
  13. I was kinda hoping that Polanco would just go straight to New Britain after his cup of coffee with the Twins.
  14. I love KLAW, but I think he's punishing Berrios a bit too much for not being 6'4". Its impossible to know how much his downward plane (or lack thereof) will effect him down the road. If I'm reading his stats correctly, his fly ball rate has been pretty high in the FSL. So I wouldn't be surprised if tougher competition and less forgiving ball parks cause him to give up more HR's. Still, if he's able to keep striking out guys and not giving away walks, he could be one of those guys that succeeds despite being prone to the occasional HR.
