Yeah I dunno about that. Sounds like the clubhouse and organization in general is toxic. If he wanted to stay he would have. But remember, we were his third option a couple years ago and we took him back like an old desperate flame. This was a predictable result.

Fun exercise for tomorrow - who's on the Twins? By my count we are trading 5 of the 26 man roster so far. Even if we assume Outman goes onto the MLB roster, that opens 4 spots - 2 in the bullpen, 2 on the roster. And that's so far. I'll bet it's 3 more spots before the day is over - Vasquez, Castro, and Jax will all be gone and I will bet that none of the players received in return will be on an MLB roster. What 7 players come up from AAA to take those spots?

The Red Sox, Yankees, and a number of other clubs were all cheating. The Astros were led by their FO, manager, and coaches. There was a huge pile of blame all around and yet it all seems to have settled on the guy who was in his early 20s. It is long past time to give up the myth that only the Astros cheated and even more so that the blame lies with Carlos Correa.

Correa didn't work out for the Twins.

You said acquire? I guess you might have meant trade, but it's hard to imagine anyone trading young, controllable players. those are the guys most coveted. But it isn't impossible....

The Twins were toast this year.  With the team for sale, with the big 3 reduced to one,  with the injury to Lopez(last year Ryan's injury cost them a playoff berth), and failure of secondary starters like Larnach, Wallner, Julian, et.al. to step up, the Twins are a model of mediocrity.  And their record shows that.  Hence, the massive selloff!

2. Giving up on Correa accomplished several things: 1.) made a sale much more likely; 2.) opened up the SS position for younger guys like Lee. Culpepper to sink or swim; and 3) leads to a badly needed rebuild instead of retooling a club that has been in a state of decline.

3.  Trading Duran for two high prospects bolsters two positions of weakness - SP and C.  Sure, no guarantees but even if one of the former Phils becomes a regular, this is a big win going forward.

4. Improving our prospect list by trading Bader, (presumably Coulombe) and Paddack is positive in that it increases the odds that the ML lineup will be bolstered in years to come.  It's hard to say that about the Stewart trade but if the Twins can help Outman regain his rookie form, again, a big win.

Falvey could have sat on his hands this July, but he made some bold moves that give me more hope for a return to contention.  The likelihood is he won't be around for long, but no one can accuse him of being risk adverse.  I, for one, feel more hope for the future than I did several days ago.  That's a good thing, in my estimation!

I’ve been very disappointed with Falvey the last 2 seasons, but I give him kudos today. He did what’s best for this organization and even then, he’s still likely to be let go. We can only hope the mass layoffs in the last 48 hours results in a sale of the team ASAP.

Like I said elsewhere, I would have been happy to see Harrison Bader stick around for some of the that money. But they won’t find anyone if they don’t start shopping. Now they at least can look.

There were times where I very much questioned Correa's attitude/team devotion as well as his sustainability. During the last couple of years, it seemed like he was being pulled for some little thing and had to be "rested" by Rocco, which is something is that was a bit overboard. At this point, good riddance. He turns 31 in September, and his age is showing.

I agree, even if I don't like the specifics. This team missed the playoffs 4 of 5 years and was not exactly LOW in payroll......I'm not sure how this team reacts for a few weeks, though. They gotta be pissed (even if their play is the reason).

This team was good enough and deep enough to compete in ‘25.  They way underperformed.  Sure, the players are part of that, maybe mostly.   But Rocco has to be held responsible.

This fire sake could have been averted if there were enough guts to fire Rocco earlier in the season.  In fact, they could’ve fired Rocco yesterday, kept Correa and some or most of the others, and the franchise would have been better off.

It’s pretty clear Correa wanted out at this point.  The writing is on the wall.

Rocco needs to be shown the door immediately.  The rebuild starts tomorrow. And that rebuild cannot be led by Rocco.

Thats where I think you're wrong - They absolutely CAN afford to pay the man.  They just elect not to spend the money.  BUT - they'll never spend a penny of the savings from this trade on the team.

I know there are a lot of folks who hate him, but I’d still like to see Doug Mientkiewicz replace Rocco. At least we’d see some emotion and some interesting baseball.

Yes please! Ride it out with one of the assistant coaches and hire someone from the outside in the offseason.

I was just going to post that what all of this tells me is that they are either close to finishing the sale or the sale has completely fallen apart. Either way, they are clearing the decks for this year while leaving some talent on the roster. My optimistic guess is the sale is in the final stages with the Pohlads responsible for this season financially so they are facilitating their exit and leaving new ownership with a reasonably fresh slate by basically dumping anyone who is not controllable or is making any money. My pessimistic read is that the sale is not happening and they are trying to lessen their losses for this year in the hope of selling in the off-season.

Harrison Bader isn't young. Durable I guess, even if this will only be his second season of 100 gsmes played since 2021. He'll be controllable this winter. I hope to hell they dont spend money on him though. They're not contending next year and Bader has no place on a non contender.

I am hoping for your optimistic outlook. Because I can’t take another offseason with the Pohlads as owners. It will kill any interest I have left for this team.
