A BAT.

Look, Festa has great potential and SWR HAS shown previously he can be solid. And Sims is also young enough to still hold potential. But if they falter badly, or another injury happens before Matthews comes back...Lopez in August...it's not going to matter.

Despite all their inconsistency this season, the Twins have the potential still for a decent lineup. Correa and Wallner need to find themselves. Jeffers is fine, but could be better. Castro has been great. I still feel Larnach is solid, but I sure like him better lower in the lineup. Lewis and Keaschall back in July can make a real difference. (Keaschall is not as good as his debut, but hes still really talented).

The Twins have enough flexible pieces, despite some poor bench options, where they can fit a BAT in almost anywhere. Other than Catcher, CF, or SS, there isn't a spot they can't work a hitter in to the lineup. A better 1B? France has been solid and dependable, but not irreplaceable. A DH or OF? Bader and Larnach move around. A 3B? Lee plays mostly at 2B. (Further development from Lee doesn't hurt either).

Add a BAT that can settle in to the heart of the order, a couple guys step up, Lewis and Keaschall come back in July, I can still see a top 10 offense. But the lineup needs a SPARK from SOMEWHERE.

Not gonna be popular but here goes.....Royce Lewis is not the savior...get over it.

Q.....for the analyticals....how valuable is a guy who year+ ago hits a couple home runs and since then can't leg out 1B without that nasty hammy popping up.

I think several years of bomba squad success had intoxicated the decision making within the organization with regards to drafting and roster construction. The Twins have a lot of bat first players with below average defense.  Therefore we are left in need of upgrading at multiple positions—which essentially means that no single acquisition will significantly alter the course of the season.

Also, the Twins are not playing fundamentally sound baseball which suggests that there are coaching/development issues within the organization. It has been years since the Twins way was emulated and a source of pride throughout the organization.

This is a simple question to answer if one has watched the Twins play their games. The fundamental philosophy of the front office is flawed. A roster of DH types does not have the talent to support their pitchers by playing defense. Our announcers, management, and fans find various means to wiggle around how slow of a team and how poor our position players react in the field. The hope was for the team to bash the ball. As of today, the Twins have 82 home runs which is in the middle. The team doesn't run, hit triples, or walk. Whatever your favorite statistic may be, the Twins are below average at the plate. The front office has proved beyond doubt that they can put together a roster of position players who can win somewhere in the neighborhood of 80 games. Anything more is hopeful. The talent just doesn't exist. Those who believe the owners could make any decisions on spending which would alter the approach are deluding themselves. Ownership may have many faults but I cannot believe that the Pohlads are engaged in the roster decisions.

Honestly....their biggest need is to bite the bullet and sell everything that isn't nailed down.

SS goes to Lee.  Keaschall at 2B.  Lewis (because you can't get anything for him and he's not worth dumping) at 3B.  Larnach and Wallner in the OF.  Ryan, Zebby, Festa, Ober, SWR in the rotation.

Consider selling everything else.  Even Buck.

You prefer a 90-100 loss seasons, strange indeed.

I think it is complicated. If in fact the organizations is even remotely open to making any trades, which isn't at all clear if you have heard or read the comments of the team leaders, then every single player should be dangled in hopes of improving the talent on the team. I don't think this is about money. Have an idea of players who may be available. Are these guys talented? What players will cause other teams to engage in serious and mutually beneficial discussions which lead to transactions?

I don't have a favorite Twins player. I also am not down on any of the players in the organization. In fact if the status quo is kept, which I expect, bringing Julien back may actually be a thing that helps despite all of his warts. So dispassionately I will identify the position players you want to keep as best fits in the DH position. Because each team is only allowed one DH, ostensibly for the pitcher, a team of Keaschall at 2B, Lewis at 3B, Lee at SS, and Larnach and Wallner as corner outfielders is sheer terror for pitchers. This is, however, acceptable if these guys consistently produce as a top 3 runs scored team in all of baseball. Anything less than that is not an acceptable tradeoff.

I don't expect any change at this time.

To be honest, I'd take an entertaining 100 loss team over this frustrating boring team every day.

Your analogy is false as this is what 100 loss teams look like.😆

We don't just suck, we're also no fun to watch.  No running game, no small ball, no personality.
