LA Vikes Fan Verified Member Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 Lineup looks good for 5 spots at least. Hard to see Kepler and Gallo back to back unless you guys need a breeze out there... I was kind of hoping after last night that Kepler had been relegated to the bench but no such luck, I guess.

CRF Verified Member Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 Hopefully, we can win today despite having Gallo and Kep hitting back to back, and with Vazquez right behind them. That's like having the Bermuda Triangle toward the bottom of our lineup. Hits go there to disappear. tarheeltwinsfan 1
insagt1 Verified Member Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 I have zero confidence that Gallo can help the Twins. Unless the whiff rate decreases dramtically I expect to see him gone by the ASG. This isn't just a bad year..it has been his norm for many seasons. Kepler needs a change of scenery and I think he has trade value. Needs to be done. Twins roughed up one of the top closers in the business last night. Shows they can't be perfect all the time. (even Mariano lost a game 7 in the WS, incredibly) Any guess how Buck will be used when he is reactivated? His bat is too weak to be the regular DH (at least so far) and within one week of playing CF, his knees will give way, or something else that will sideline him indefinitely.

tarheeltwinsfan Verified Member Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 Michael Taylor has been such a good addition to the Twins this year. Defensively, offensively, on the bases and probably in the clubhouse also. Mike Sixel 1

It's getting ridiculous. We have five pure left handed hitters on the 26 man. All 5 are in the lineup against Right Hander Colin Rea. Including 3 in a row in the 5,6 and 7 spots in the order. The Brewers have one left handed reliever and he was used last night for 11 pitches and is probably available today. 5,6 7 in the order is probably when Hoby Milner gets deployed. Brewers starter Colin Rea has faced 892 Major League Plate Appearances over his career. His Career Splits: RHB - 450 PA - .258/.322/.448 LHB - 442 PA - .245/.324/.402 In 2023: RHB - 121 PA - .234/.298/.323 LHB - 98 PA - .233/.320/.454 Max Kepler is currently hitting .203/.275/.390 against right handed pitchers. As long as what side of the box is facing what hand matters more than how the batter actually does. I think we will see more of Max Kepler. Rocco has been pretty consistent and therefore has been pretty predictable. On the other hand... we are going to get hit with two lefty starters back to back when Detroit comes to town so perhaps Max will not start those games and therefore plays today to avoid 4 straight games on the bench. Either way... Yep... Farmer, Castro and Lewis all with OPS over .719 against right handers are watching Kepler bat with an OPS of .665 against right handers. At least we will be ready for Hoby Milner. We got a stack of right handers ready for him. Jerr, TwinsDr2021, Richie the Rally Goat and 1 other 4

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 I really don't get why Kepler is on this roster still. Sigh (I'm hoping for a reverse jinx, which I probably just jinxed).

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 OTOH, Taylor has been a league average hitter, and played great D and run the bases well. That move has turned out quite nicely for this team. Jocko87 and SwainZag 2
