Royce doesn’t play day games after night games? Ober needs a sharp outing. Sweep the Brewers!!

It seems reasonable that if I can start a day game thread after a night game thread that Royce should be able to play baseball under the same conditions.  This is taxing stuff and I managed!

Lineup looks good for 5 spots at least. Hard to see Kepler and Gallo back to back unless you guys need a breeze out there... I was kind of hoping after last night that Kepler had been relegated to the bench but no such luck, I guess.

It's starting to piss me off to see Kepler remain in the lineup daily. It's getting ridiculous.

He wasn't in the lineup yesterday, I don't think.

Hopefully, we can win today despite having Gallo and Kep hitting back to back, and with Vazquez right behind them. That's like having the Bermuda Triangle toward the bottom of our lineup. Hits go there to disappear.

I have zero confidence that Gallo can help the Twins. Unless the whiff rate decreases dramtically I expect to see him gone by the ASG. This isn't just a bad year..it has been his norm for many seasons.

Kepler needs a change of scenery and I think he has trade value. Needs to be done.

Twins roughed up one of the top closers in the business last night. Shows they can't be perfect all the time. (even Mariano lost a game 7 in the WS, incredibly)

Any guess how Buck will be used when he is reactivated? His bat is too weak to be the regular DH (at least so far) and within one week of playing CF, his knees will give way, or something else that will sideline him indefinitely.

We have five pure left handed hitters on the 26 man.

All 5 are in the lineup against Right Hander Colin Rea. Including 3 in a row in the 5,6 and 7 spots in the order. The Brewers have one left handed reliever and he was used last night for 11 pitches and is probably available today.  5,6 7 in the order is probably when Hoby Milner gets deployed.

Brewers starter Colin Rea has faced 892 Major League Plate Appearances over his career.

His Career Splits:

RHB - 450 PA - .258/.322/.448

LHB - 442 PA - .245/.324/.402

In 2023:

RHB - 121 PA - .234/.298/.323

LHB - 98 PA - .233/.320/.454

Max Kepler is currently hitting .203/.275/.390 against right handed pitchers.

As long as what side of the box is facing what hand matters more than how the batter actually does. I think we will see more of Max Kepler. Rocco has been pretty consistent and therefore has been pretty predictable.

On the other hand... we are going to get hit with two lefty starters back to back when Detroit comes to town so perhaps Max will not start those games and therefore plays today to avoid 4 straight games on the bench.

Either way... Yep... Farmer, Castro and Lewis all with OPS over .719 against right handers are watching Kepler bat with an OPS of .665 against right handers.

At least we will be ready for Hoby Milner. We got a stack of right handers ready for him.

I hope there is another good crowd for today's game. I feel last night's crowd helped the Twins' players. Correa mentioned the good crowd last night.

Since most of the people there last night were Brewers fans, I'd expect another good showing today.

It was a fun atmosphere last night.

So Royce gets Saturday off, team had Monday off, he gets pinch hit for yesterday and is off again today. What gives?

Rocco is giving him more days off than St Paul did on the rehab assignment...

He hasn't played a day game after a night game all year, so, no, this isn't about Rocco.

Not the start I was looking for so far from Ober.

But he worked around the singles nicely.

what's up with the haze?  Is it overcast or is this part of the Canadian wild fires making their way against the headwinds?

Fire smoke.

1. "All year" = since May 29

2. He started and played complete games Saturday night, June 3rd and Sunday afternoon, June 4th
