Sands? He still has some potential and don't forget .... he is a part of that all important pitching pipeline. Right?

Eh. Remains to be seen. But maybe if he takes the Jax route. Certainly not sold, but I’m not writing him off yet, either

Without fail, every time we play the Yankees, the broadcasters bring up how the twins did things under Tom Kelly. It’s been over 20 years guys, time to move on

Yes.  Last two yrs of blyleven I watched the games on mute.  Morneau is really good.

Morneau should just be given the job full time

Pretty on-brand effort from Sands. 3.2 IP and 4 ER, which is exactly his season average.

He's got no business on this roster. Meanwhile we've got Winder, Ober, Gray and Ryan who could ALL be pitching now but are being held back for "extra rest" just in case. Hope it's worth it in the long run, I guess we'll just have to wait and see in Sept when we look at the final standings.

You the team doctor now?

The Yankees have owned the Twins since Kelly left, time to change back.

I'm sure this has been offered, but I don't think he really wants it, and I can't blame him. He doesn't need the money, and you only have young kids for so long.

As I said before he hates not playing, not DHing, he said it destroys his timing and I think he knows what affects him most.

If I was him I'd want to be with the kids. It only lasts so long. And then they're on their own.

Incredibly this is still a winnable game. Credit where it's due, the offense is showing some fight. Not sure how the pitching holds on tonight, but at least it's been a competitive first half of the game.

I'd bet on Sands ending up being a fairly good reliever. Hopefully he can get a few more mph on the fastball out of the bullpen.

Too bad they never taught Celestino how to steal. He had a few good opportunities. He's fast enough

Yeah that situation just screamed stolen base attempt.
