Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 It's a Christmas miracle!
D. Hocking Verified Member Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 I am going to be positive for now and not overanalyze and say -- 2022 World Series MVP -- hopefully he negotiated some sort of bonus for that.
prouster Verified Member Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 Ok, this is a good start to the winter. I withdraw my recent criticisms of the front office (although I still wish they they met Berrios’ terms). Happy day!
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 Those PA incentives are modest as hell. Very good deal for the Twins, even if it flops the risk is worth it.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 I’m thrilled this got done before the lockout. If he stays healthy this will be an incredible value for the Twins.
lecroy24fan Verified Member Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 Darren Wolfson just tweeted there are no opt-outs.
cHawk Community Moderator Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 Glad they finally got it done.
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 It's difficult to find anything bad with this contract and I am about as negative about the Twins as anyone. Now sign 12 quality pitchers.

How much he's paid doesn't matter much to me.
gman Verified Member Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 Now they need to put a beeper in his ball cap to warn him when he gets too close to the fence. Also give him the Biggio plate armor to protect his hands from getting hit by pitches.

Nashvilletwin Verified Member Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 Step 1 is now done. With a healthy BB we will have an open window for seven years. Now let’s solve our Step 2: long term SS. If we have to move JD to get it done financially, so be it. Twins will be incredible up the middle for at least half a decade. If we get those two done, we have the young players both in the field and on the bump (in terms of both talent and cost) to be a strong contender, most likely starting in 2023.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 The last three years of Wander Franco’s deal guarantees him more money per year than Buxton can earn if he wins MVP. The Twins got an absolute steal here, they need to re-invest this savings and not expect every deal to be so team friendly.

Heiny Verified Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 So, correct me if I'm wrong, but if Buxton gets 625 PA every year and wins the MVP award every year, the Twins will pay him a total of 173.5 million dollars over the course of the contract. That would come to approximately 24.75M per year for a MVP winner 7 consecutive years. LOL. Team friendly you say. Oh yeah.
LewFordLives Verified Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 For those who think this deal is team friendly and a complete steal, just remember there is a flip side....yeah, he could win the MVP and still be making less than some other players, but given his history, he could just as well mess up his legs, lose a step, and start striking out every other at bat. That's the risk the Twins are taking on. I do think the deal is fair to both sides, and I am glad they were able to come together.
