Twins had a terrific May in 1990 and then the wheels came off and they finished in last place. Also in 1992, a season after their WS winning season, the Twins owned the best record in baseball at the All Star break and then ended up not even making the playoffs. I'll take this season one game at a time and keep cheering! Go Twins,  Oldf man here with alot of Memories on this day!!

In honor of the First Minnesota Volunteer Infantry Regiment, one of the first, if not THE first unit offered up by a state governor (Gov Ramsey) in response to President Lincoln's call for volunteers after the fall of Ft Sumter.

A remarkable story all Minnesotans should be proud, particularly the unit's action on the second day at Gettysburg.

Is there a reason to think otherwise?

I haven't been paying attention...

Well, if we get to the end of the season and haven't played it yet, and it doesn't matter to the outcome of the standings of either team, then yes, we'll have to get it in there.

Is there a reason to disbelieve the topic of this thread?

Because I think it might be currently raining in Mpls, but it doesn't appear that it will still be raining by game time or soon thereafter. Given the most excellent drainage system at Target Field, unless it's just torrential downpours for the next 3-4 hrs, I think they will get the game in tonight. Maybe not starting exactly on time, but I think they will get it in. Of course, that could change, but, we won't know it won't be played today until the Twins announce it won't be played today. That they haven't announced that yet, who knows what the future will be.

Speaking of torrential downpours, I was driving through Oklahoma a couple of days ago and got caught in a rain storm that took visibility almost to zero. Had to pull over on the shoulder until the storm let up.

When did you start paying attention? Didn't anyone get me the memo? Oh, wait, that means I haven't been paying attention....

Ah, i see.

Weather.

Or rather, i don't see, but i do understand.

In the greater Boston area it is sunny and perhaps mid 60F's-ish? Very pleasant over all and sneaky sunburning time.

I am just relaxing after a 4th Memorial day parade this weekend.

Pretty sure paying attention is a sucker's bet.

Then people start expecting things from you...

It’s rainy and gloomy here right now. Supposed to start clearing up in a couple of hours. I’d guess there might be a delay but they’ll probably get it in.

A few things:

1). In today’s political age, a lot of people who live in this country like to complain about how terrible it is. In my opinion, it’s disgraceful. It shouldn’t take a holiday to remind us of reality, and number of great Americans who have sacrificed their lives to promote freedom of choice, and dethrone tyrants, despots, and sycophants of all kinds. The United States is the greatest country in the world, and it’s due to service men and women not here to eat grilled hot dogs and drink beer today.

2). On the baseball, the week ahead is going to be a lot of fun. A good litmus test with the Brewers and Rays. Get through the week above .500, and any remaining doubters will be silenced.

3). Vegas has the brewers favored today. I believe Vegas hard the Angels favored in every game of that series. Woe is me for not taking advantage.

4). ESPN has moved this squad up to #2 in the power rankings behind the Astros. That must have been extremely painful for those staff writers. Still not sure how they’re not #1 after already winning the season series. They rave about their offense....but we’re ahead in every single meaningful category. We’re +20 in run differential. We’re 3 games ahead in the standings.

Everyone talks about the injuries of the Astros/Yankees....but nobody seems to notice Nelson Cruz, Mitch Garver, and Miguel Sano have all missed significant time with injuries already this year.

Oh well, I’ll take the reluctant hat-tip from ESPN. Let’s go get a big win tonight and keep it going.

So is putting a turkey in the smoker considered a bad omen?

Yes. You will be blamed when the Twins lose.

it has been pouring on the far western part of Wi/exurban TC metro, but is currently slowing a bit. Radar predicts rain should be done around 6.

My guess is the field might need to dry a bit, first pitch 6:30 ish.

I actually have this very print, "Not A Man Wavered" by Dale Gallon hanging on my office wall. Pick up a copy of Richard Moe's book, "The Last Full Measure" to put real meaning to Gallon's print. The book follows the correspondence of two brothers who actually fought at Gettysburg. I highly recommend it.
