Well, the first three batters of the 9th had good, professional at bats. The kind of at bats one would hope to see from key players in the bottom of the 9th inning.

The last two, not so much. Hader threw 6 balls to the preceding two batters. Rosario and Sano swung at every pitch they saw.

Nice.

That was the least surprising thing I saw today. Aside from me drinking all day

Sano's at-bat was actually pretty exciting. Clearly he was trying to swing uphill at a ball going very fast flat. A home run would have been nice, but the situation called for just a little bingo of a hit. Sano isn't quite ready to play the hero. A month from now, maybe...

A 30% strikeout hitter versus a pitcher that nearly strikes out 50% of the batters he faces.

I would like someone run the odds of him getting a hit.

I was more fascinated by Astudillo (3% chance of K) VS Hader (53.3% chance of K). Of course, he popped out, but I wonder how many PAs it would take for Hader to strike him out.

Um. Bad.

A winnable game that didn't go the Twins way. Minnesota had more than enough opportunities in this one (2-10 with RISP), they just couldn't get the critical hit.

Brother Oswaldo (has anyone mentioned him?) is still only 28 years old, and playing baseball in Oaxaca, Mexico of all places. At least he must be having an interesting time with his family - as I recall he has a couple of kids.

I thought you had to be off by 10 years, so  I checked Baseball Reference. He was with the Twins from 2013-2015.

If you had asked me if he came up with Aaron Hicks or Luis Rivas, I would have guessed Rivas. If you had asked me if he came up with Hicks or Marty Cordova, I would have had to think about it. I think part of it is even when he was 23, he seemed like he was 35.
