I'm a Twins fan living in Maine and we are at the far East edge of the Eastern Time zone. Even with DST, the damn sun comes up before 4:00AM. And tonight's game starts at 10:10 our time. Tomorrow morning is going to be painful.

Three words; Bailey's Irish Cream. Three more: Hold the coffee. A last three: Call in sick.

Is that a Three, Pete?

Shot of Fireball ready on the nightstand helps.

so just leave it there all year long and be done with it.

That doesn’t work either. Without going back to standard time, sunrise in December and January is after 8 AM. Which means kids waiting for the bus in the dark.

Bar Harbor, ME, has sunrise at 4:47 AM on June 15. If it weren't for DST it would be at 3:47 AM. That is torture. Maine should consider switching to the Atlantic time zone.

Just eyeballing it, the New England states would all make more sense in the earlier time zone. But of course Boston would not want to be viewed as in that different of a place than NYC and DC, so there we are.

I vaguely remember hearing a rumor that if Massechusetts ever switched, the rest of New England would follow.

But alas even despite the recent sports success, Boston remains in the shadow of the apple...

But if they were doing things in the morning, shouldn't shadows go the other way?

Perhaps if we adjusted the space-time continuum...

Ohhh, you, and your fancy high-falutin' theories.

Wow, Schoop batting 3rd.

Cruz still out...c'mon man.

Sano batting 7th, whee!

O’s have pounded Bauer for 7 runs in 5 innings. Too bad the Indians have pretty much returned the favor.

Went back a few seasons to see if teams playing .600 ball on Memorial Day go on to make the postseason.

Most do!

The worst example of not making it goes to.. the 2012 Dodgers, who were 32-16 after Memorial Day, 6.5 games ahead of the Giants. But in the end, the Giants dusted ‘em and won the division by 8.0 games, and also the World Series. The Giants swept the Dodgers in a series in late June to pull even, the two teams bobbed and weaved for the division lead for a couple months, then the Giants started to slowly pull away late in August, early September.

Dodgers still won 86 games that year but missed the wild card.

But that is generally the exception.

I dunno. I grew up in Indiana and you lived there for a good while, and Chief (among others on TD) knows AZ. We have, in other words, multiple witnesses as to the blackholishness of those two states.

Iowa native living in Indiana. Concur.

Game thread game... let's try and add lines/titles from Chicago songs to fit in context with ongoing conversations.

I’m hoping the offense keeps quoting album titles.

IF PINEADA WANTS TO LOWER THE MOUND , INVITE SANO , WANNA SEE THEM TOGETHER WITH WES , THE PITCHING COACH

Two heavy-set fellows, and one who's a bit small of stature. Have I got the gist of it?

The Twins are on a West Coast swing, starting in the North, though still south of the Twin Cities, in Seattle, facing the Mariners.

This should be an interesting series because the Mariners have been able to put some runs on the board. Though, their pitching seems to be able to give up quite a few runs also. Which is good for the Twins, not so good for Seattle.

It's funny, because I sort of kept an eye on Seattle and noticed they had a good record, but looked at how many runs they were giving up and realized their early season record was smoke and mirrors. And, as of this writing, Seattle shows a -12 run differential while our favorite team, the Twins, show a run differential of +52.

Now for some things to think about;

1: 7:10 start time on the West Coast. Blech.

2. 9:10 start time for the Midwest. Double Blech

3. Any sort of "light" beer: Blech and ptui

4. Daylight Savings Time: Blech, ptui and arrggh!

Pitching for the Twins:

Michael Pineda

Pitching for Seattle:

Erik Swanson

5. Play Ball!

I concur, esp. with #3.

Although, I have fond memories of falling asleep with the transistor under my pillow trying to listen to those games on the Coast back in my young school days... Then having to wait for the afternoon paper to see who won the game the night before!

Heh....

Fun to see Bauer getting strafed by the O's.

But whoa, what's with all the football scores today?

Everybody's scoring runs by the bushel basket.

Just chiming in and six pages by the time the game starts? I swear I read them all. My two cents on the time of day? I don't give a crap how dark it is when I get up, even when I get to work, but if is dark when I get off I find that tough. I like the clocks set right where they are right now. The bright side is I'm self employed so it's whatever damn time i say it is!

Kepler needs to be moved down...he is just not hitting the ball well right now.

It always seems like he takes decent ABs, but the results are underwhelming.

Just my opinion, of course, but he gets beat by fastballs too often.
