drjim Provisional Member Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 From Sickels preseason: 14) Tyler Watson, LHP, Grade C+: Age 19, 34th round pick in 2015 from high school in Gilbert, Arizona; would have gone 30 rounds higher except he was committed to Loyola Marymount; signed for $400,000; 6-5 southpaw with strong ’16 campaign, 2.64 ERA with 64/15 K/BB in 58 innings between NY-P and Low-A, 46 hits, just one homer; low-90s heat with more projectable; already throws strikes with strong curveball, change-up coming along; highly intriguing prospect with breakthrough potential. SLEEPER ALERT. ETA 2020. SF Twins Fan, 70charger, olivia11 and 3 others 6

gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 Watson is a nice lotto ticket. 6'5" lefty. Only 20. Lots of strike outs but not high velocity.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 who cares. This is the correct answer. d-mac, Jerr, youngtwinsfan and 1 other 4

KirbyHawk75 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 Watson is number 17 on MLB's top 30 for Washington. I wonder where he will be ranked in the Twins top 30? He does not sound like a power pitcher at all, but still a good get for a free agent to be..
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 So Dodgers acquire Darvish, Tony Watson from Pittsburgh, and Tony Cingrani from Cincinnati. What a day to be a Dodgers fan. d-mac 1

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 Other than the Cubs, the middle of hte country waved the white flag, I guess.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 Well, I was hoping this FO would either go for it (more than 1 player coming in), or trade off players, weeks ago. They didn't really do either, apparently. Put me in the slightly disappointed camp they didn't succeed at doing one or the other. Or, they squeezed in Kintzler right at the deadline, and I am not as disappointed. youngtwinsfan 1
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 MLB Network just cited the Washington Post report as well. Hopefully it's not for a couple of busted bats and an empty jar of pine tar.... like what the Yankees sent to Oakland for Sonny Gray?

jorgenswest Verified Member Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 (edited) Twins retain all of their 2018 assets (depending on your view of Murphy) while adding near ready depth in Ens, Littell and Moya. They lost Ynoa but added Watson in the lower minors. It cost them a little cash to add the depth. Well played by the front office. They also get some international dollars. He does not sound like a power pitcher at all, but still a good get for a free agent to be.. Looking at the numbers, he keeps ball in the park, limits walks, and misses bats. I believe he has 2 more years till he's 40 man eligible, which would have him finishing in AA or AAA at that point if he moves fast. Good pick up. SF Twins Fan, HrbekRules, d-mac and 1 other 4
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 Cleveland and KC are middle of the country. I don't think they're waving white flags. CLE didn't add anything, and ya, I realize KC did, but it won't matter. but fair.
70charger Verified Member Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 drjim reports in another thread that the Twins are getting international bonus pool money too. Looks even better now. d-mac 1

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 What was the price for Darvish? Hasn't been announced yet. But given they made 3 trades for proven pitchers, their farm has to be somewhat depleted after today. 70charger and d-mac 2
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 If you want to talk specifically of the Kintzler trade, here's the thread on it:http://twinsdaily.com/topic/26987-article-twins-trade-kintzler-to-nationals/ You can still talk deadline news here. Not closing this for that.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 I thought they added something a day or two ago? And the Brewers, they added something, too, didn't they? I forgot about the Brewers. I retract my statement.
