DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 I will start: The twins are winning a lot of games, this makes me happy. Tim Stauffer has not been good this year, but his intgerity is second to none (read the story of him being 100% forth right when he was drafted) Juan Castro may be the worst hitter per baseball reference, but he still has more at bats then me.
BD57 Verified Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 The guys seem to be playing "happy" baseball. We're getting good production from Dozier, Plouffe, Hunter & others. Perkins has been everything we'd hope for.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 They look like they are having FUN and that increases my enjoyment of their performance.
Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Plouffe and Dozier are following up career years in 2014 with career years in 2015.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Dozier has sweet hair. I'd also like to suggest a new statistical correlation to consider - beard length and RBI totals.
Ben Noble Verified Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Aaron Hicks has looked like a completely different player in the field and as a hitter from the left side of the plate, and I'm proud of him for facing adversity and changing his approach. When he mashed that home run on Wednesday, I yelled so loud that my dog went and hid under the bed.
Twodogs Verified Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 In my opinion the Twins have been playing really well as a team, however, they don't seem to really have any one guy who is a big time All-Star. You know they don't have any regular hitting .330 or any guy with 15 Hrs etc... But they have a bunch of guys that are hitting .250 - .280 and are being really productive with their at bats and their plays in the field. They seem to be playing really well as a team.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Tim Stauffer is undefeated this season.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Two Twins players--Brian Dozier and Trevor Plouffe--have gone from from being near discards on a bad team to solid regulars on a team that is in first place. Both have demonstrated dedication and work ethic that is commendable. It's easy to cheer for guys like that, who have overcome hurdles and become better players.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Blaine Boyer has been bad ass..........or something to that effect.
Linus Verified Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Suzuki is really good at blocking pitches in the dirt. He gets criticized greatly for his defense but blocking balls in the dirt has to be as big a run saver as anything else in a catcher's performance.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Mike Pelfrey hasn't deserved any criticism this season.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Ricky Nolasco miraculously leads the team with 5 wins.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 I tried to do a thread like this a couple years ago. I got ripped apart like the Cleveland bullpen facing the top of the Twins lineup.
DuluthFan Verified Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 This team is playing above everyone's expectations because everyone is looking at the individual parts and not the team as a whole. I want to compare them to the Piranha Twins when they were consistently picked to finish last but seemed to always be in the hunt. This team needs a nickname. Where's Ozzie?
ShouldaCouldaWoulda Verified Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 I have been underperforming in life lately, but things haven't fallen apart and have actually been pretty good around me. Most of the Twins players are having subpar seasons, while the team just keeps winning. I take comfort in this:)
70charger Verified Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 The promotions have started and the next core is arriving. May, Arcia, Vargas, Santana, Rosario. They've all seen significant time this year and even those currently out of the lineup should see plenty more. Supplement them with a few more youngsters and you're probably looking at the World Series winning 2017 Twins.
Blackjack Provisional Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 The starting pitching has kept them in ball games - go Hughes, Gibson, Pelfrey, Nolassco, and May!!! And we have Santana and Milone in the wings!!! An excess of starting pitching is a great problem to have!!
Gene Larkin Fan Club Verified Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 W's. Thanks for continuing to be a bastion of positivity, Dave!
luckylager Verified Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 I was very skeptical about the signing of Torii Hunter. I figured it was only a scheme to sell the past, knowing the current team would once again be, at best, so-so. I was very wrong. Torii has been a huge contributor to the team's current success. Good at-bats, fairly solid defense and playing an immeasurable role in what appears to be a new clubhouse attitude. The team is once again fun to watch and I think a lot of the credit goes to Mr. Hunter. Keep it up!
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 All the FAs seems to be doing a great job, almost all. Big Plouffe and Dozier fan, I want them extended (well, Brian already was), not dealt.
RIP BYTO Verified Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Brian Duensing is easily one of the top three left handed pitchers currently on the Twins active roster.
dbminn Verified Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Because the Twins are winning, our prospects are not being rushed to the majors. Better yet, fewer people are screaming for prospects to be rushed to the majors.
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Vodka Dave always the optimist! Just for you, Thomas Vanek doesn't play for the Twins.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2015 Author Posted June 2, 2015 Thomas Vanek :shoot: :shoot: :shoot: :shoot:
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 From the Boston radar, it looks like the rain may clear and the Twins and Red Sox will play tonight. In past years, I'd be ho hum ..... now I'm eagerly anticipating tonight's game.
