I'll say this, there seems to be a fervor here to make a bunch of trades. I'm presuming everyone is cool with the team putting no effort into winning next year then? Even if the Pohalds do sell? Because I don't think you trade away your controllable bullpen one year and then expect to be a contender the next.

I'm assuming real contention isn't happening next year either way, and would rather dream on a young team coming up and taking its lumps right now than continue to watch the current roster underperform.

I have no faith in ownership to give the Front Office enough money to make this team competitive with contracts, so that means we have to win with prospects and prospect capital.  It was clear this version was not going to be able to get it done.  I actually thought this version had the ability to win a WS.  Alas we are kicking the can.

I agree, but we don't know anything about the next ownership or next front office. That's why I only wanted to move expiring contracts. Even if they have similar mindsets, let the new people make decisions that will future impact.

I said this elsewhere but I feel like if you think the Twins can contend next year then you hate the sell off.  And I'd agree - super young prospects are years away from helping this team.  The 16 year old could be a decade away!  The moves undoubtedly make the 26 team worse.

I just don't see any hope of contending with this ownership, FO, manager, and core so I'm all for the fire sale approach.  It's a fools errand trying to suss out value for these prospects, we just won't know for years if the trades are good or not so no point evaluating now.  I remember how over the moon people were when we got Martin since he was so highly touted (and pretty far along in his development - he wasn't a 16 year old that's for sure) and he's been a total bust.

We will still have essentially the same starting rotation - Lopez, Ryan, Ober - the rest of the year is finding out if 4/5 will be one of SWR, Festa, Zebby, or another minor leaguer.

We’ve had a knack of turning failed SPs into RP pretty quickly. The bullpen can be cobbled together with Jax, Varland, Sands, then guys like Prielipp, Raya, etc.

I still have no idea what they’re going to do to generate more offense. That still remains the biggest issue.

So the parts are moving but..

Jeffers Correa Lee Lewis Clemens France Wallner Rodriguez Julien.

There's your First lineup.

They've killed their fanbase, might as well go down in a blaze of glory I guess.

I'm hearing Tony O's voice saying "GO BLAZE".

They had the bullpen and rotation to compete. My opinion was that if they had a new owner who was willing to spend on one good offensive bat, which isn't a big request, and willing to hire a new manager who knows how to develop young players and get everyone to play fundamentally sound baseball, that they absolutely would have been a contender.

I hope Raya and Prielipp are called up tomorrow. Get their feet wet in the bullpen

That was my 2nd biggest issue with the Duran trade, it did nothing to fix things on offense in that pitching window.

Good bring Julien back. We need an actual leadoff hitter. Twins have never been a good team unless they've had a solid leadoff man. Yes, he's struggled. But he's still getting on base at a good clip in AAA.

I'm just coming for lunch , went to draft tracker and saw 2 trades made , Bader and Stewart  ....

Anything else  ...

No tome to look at returning players , are they anything we can use immediately  , again Stewart is controllable so we didn't need to trade him so his return should be something good ...

Let me know , I'll check back , busy day for me ...

Can falvey be trusted ?

Or has he filled us with a bunch of mullarky once again on the forward plan ...

That was my thought also!

Really surprised Castro hasn’t been traded yet. I thought he might be our 2nd best trading asset…….

His pitching ability is a hangup

I think he is the prize of what's left.  With so many teams interested I guessing the bidding keeps going up. Might be a while as they might as well try and milk it for what they can get.

McCusker is a possibility.. OF is sparse assuming Willi and either Larnach or Wallner goes.

Especially since they gave him a send-off last night....

New manager. Gardenhire and Molitor regularly turned lesser prospects into solid contributors. Having this many exciting offense prospects all be inconsistent and lack fundamental skills despite putting up excellent AAA numbers isn't a coincidence.

By math purposes he would have been worth at least 25% less.   With 3 post seasons,  really value wise maybe 1/3 less.  We don't get this deal in the offseason.

BTV? They might have Lewis back at 70 if he gets really hot. How about Julien at 30 or something? These guys are all over the place.

Nick Kurtz in the 40s? I will trade both Emmanuel Rodriguez and Brooks Lee plus Griffin Jax for Nick Kurtz. That math is as severe an overpay as BTV would ever see and the Athletics never answer the phone.

I hope that Tait makes it through the long odds to make it to MLB and I hope Abel manages to make it as a regular in an MLB rotation. It could happen. It might not too.

Duran is in the majors now and the Phillies are ecstatic. It has looked for several years like Falvey & Sons are in over their heads. Will the trades made now work? I sure hope so because hope is the only plan.

We'll definitely disagree on McCusker.

If you are punting the season, Wallner should play every day......

I would rather see if McCusker is an actual MLB player.   We have done enough likely to punt the season.

Not with two years of control. This team doesn't have to sell everyone RIGHT NOW. If Stewart does next year what he's done this year, his value will go way up. No need to sell him for peanuts now.

He's at his career high (34) for IP already. Last year he threw 15 innings. 27 the year before that. I'm totally fine with the Twins thinking they're selling high on a soon to be 34 year old relief arm that hasn't been able to stay healthy at any point in his career.

I'd say production and years of control matter more for a relief pitcher than age does. It's probably the one position where age isn't the biggest factor actually.

He hasn't been that productive, because he hasn't been available, like ever. I wouldn't feel remotely comfortable rolling the dice that Stewart would be both healthy, and sitting north of 25 innings by the deadline next season.

Meh,  this version of the Twins wasn't winning the World Series.  Sometimes you need to do a reset.
