Agreed, but.... he really isn't close to ready for MLB based on his AA stats.  They might risk leaving him unprotected.  Somebody like the A's or Marlins might grab him I suppose, but keeping him at MLB level all of next season is unlikely to work well.

In a vacuum, I get trading him.  Likely the height of his value, velocity down a little, window shut for the next 2 seasons minimum, ect. 

 

Can argue the return all day though.  But the concept of trading him and Jax I get.

T-minus 3 hours until trade deadline:

* Willi Castro and Danny Coulombe are obvious trade candidates. They won’t fetch a huge prospect return, but multiple teams have been in the mix. 

* Twins haven’t ruled out trading Griffin Jax. Presumably would take an Abel/Tait-like return.

For those concerned about the 40 man - this what we currently have not including those who have been traded or will be traded, or not resigned after the end of the year.  

Adams, Davis, Ohl, Pereda, Misiewicz, Tonkin, Topa, Fitzgerald, Gasper, Miranda, Martin, Kiersey

There is a lot of wood that can be chopped.

If Ryan gets traded,  he very well could be a key piece.   

Painter has a value around 50,  Ryan is worth around 70 -  So Painter and 2 similar prospects we got in the Duran deal.  If we trade Ryan it could be crazy.

I don’t think the return was great. I’m not as worried about peripherals. But yeah, they didn’t want to pay him. Still, I think it was a poor trade overall

It’s mostly the return I’m annoyed with. I don’t think it was a good return.

I'm not worried.....just didn't love seeing that. Martin isn't going anywhere. Nor is Ohl.
