Didn't get it done in the 8th but a real nice 9th. Actually the way the Twins have failed to hit in the clutch lately I don't blame Castro for taking a chance to score that tying run. Could have easily ended up with 3 k's against this tough closer.

Well--they blew a tough one Sunday. Won a good one tonite, Thats baseball!

Rocco is a ****ing genius!!!

He did manage his butt off tonight. Can't really argue with any of the moves and it seemed like a good plan. On the radio they talked about the lefties having another time around and only one lefty. Maybe they knew something about Payamps too.

As an aside, the quality of at bats was excellent tonight and have seemed better overall lately.

I'll give Rocco credit for pinch running Castro, and then letting him steal second base as the tying run in the 9th.

I feel like maybe that's not something he would have done, even recently.

Growth.

Good thing that throw was off line or Castro would have been out.

Good thing it was Blake Perkins in right field.  I can understand Watkins putting up the stop sign with nobody out, but Perkins doesn't have a good right fielder's arm.

Didn't the throw come from the center fielder?

so good....so good.  It's been a lot of really really sad game recaps in a row for me...

Also at a point of "going to every away game costs a lot of money" reality check :)  So, this should get the credit card pumpin again !

Went to most of the first two trips. Kc Miami, ny Yankees and Red Sox (not third game).  Then dodgers for three and angels for one.  Now….trying to plan Atlanta maybe and Oakland Seattle….my blog should get updated over the weekend

I wouldn't have pinch hit Kepler for Lewis. Lewis has been kinda clutch in his short time while Kepler has been kinda Kepler in his long time. Payamps has severe reverse splits.

But Kepler walked so... the line kept moving... So hats of to Rocco and Kep.

I also wouldn't have pinch run Castro for Julien because Julien is plenty fast.

Asking Castro to steal when everybody in the world knew he was going to steal seemed a big ask.

Rocco asked that... Castro did it. That was a huge moment in the game. Hats off to Rocco, Castro, Solano, Julien and Correa.

and Winder.

And I'd like to thank the academy. my manager... everyone who helped.

I assumed that Castro PR for Julien because of the experience factor.  I wouldn't really have a problem either way, but I do like that Rocco went with a more experienced runner in that situation.

I don't know how fast Julien is. But even if their speeds are comparable I would say Castro is probably a better base runner.

I think you are right. He needs the SB there in the situation. Castro has demonstrated the ability to do that... Julien has not.

Honestly... I probably wouldn't have done it. I've been conditioned to not think about the stolen base with the Twins so I'm thinking first to home speed.

I would have been wrong. It was the right move.

It took guts but it was the right move.

I had fun.

Hope to be around more.

It was a toe dip.

The water was warm.

Me too, maybe next time you can do lyrics that rhyme the same word with itself for me. 🤣

when you pinch run for a guy who is playing well, in a game where you need 1 run...he better be stealing. So doesn't matter if the world knew Castro was running. Speed is a weapon Twins have forgotten about for many seasons. I can think of many times when Buck was on 1st in that situation, and he never ran and often the GIDP followed. (another of Buxton's tools that have been retired from his toolbox)

I suppose the worst that could have happened was Castro gets tossed at the plate and Solano takes 2nd. So now you have 1 out and still a runner in scoring position. Glad it didn't go that way though because of the inordinate number of k's the Twins hitters have been getting.

Glad to see the stolen base making a comeback. Last week Rochester was nursing a 1 run lead in the 8th inning, runners on 1st and 3rd 2 outs. Pitcher paid no attention to the runner at 1st and he waltzed uncontested to 2nd. So now a base hit not only ties the game, the lead would change. And thats exactly what happened. Cautionary tale. Wings lost a game because they ignored the runner.

Stolen bases are an exciting part of the game.

I was thinking he had lifted some Jan and Dean lyrics or maybe obscure Beach Boys but couldn't find a match.
