Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 How is it, that Duffey’s ERA is “only” 6.55? Seems like every time I tune in for his appearance he puts up a nasty crooked number and can’t get out of the inning?

He has to use the staff that is available. Tonight, it has been Sands, Minaya, Cano, Duffey, Megill so far. Not a lot of trusted, established pitchera on good runs right there.
operation mindcrime Verified Member Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 Can Randy Dobnak pick Megill up after the game and drive him to St. Paul?

Mill1634 Verified Member Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 White Sox should beat the Dodgers (4-0 T9) and Cleveland is going to split a DH with Texas tonight. Twins will have a 4 game lead with 5 remaining games against NYY and TBR left this week.

He's better (right now) than any of them we've seen. Cotton wasn't on the 40 man roster, which would have meant waiving someone. Also he's pitched a total of 9.2 innings this season. It's a very small sample size. This guy is 30 and never stuck in the majors. There's a reason for that.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 People outside of the northeast cannot understand how awful it is to continually watch the twins lose to the Yankees. You just can’t understand it.

LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 If Duffey coughs up the lead early at least the Twins have time to come back

He has waiver wire claims and minor league free agents to choose from. The front office deleted his best reliever before the season. He gets 39 yr old Joe Smith and Pagan in return. Don't know how many times this needs to be said: There are no spots for non-performing relievers in modern baseball. No low leverage spots. No place to hide anyone. Get him some better relievers this winter. Maybe get him one or two by trade deadline? Pretty please with sugar on top?
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 Not having a single long man option has been killing us. And 4 inning archer tomorrow. Yeesh

Plus the Pitching Pipeline(tm). You cannot build a reliable bullpen from the junk other teams don't want. Dominant Relievers are not " fungible," "easy to find," "unpredictable." Good lineups feast off these types.

You think the Twins planned on using 11 different starters by game 56? That's pretty insane. No team is baseball can go 11 deep no matter how deep their pipeline is.
David HK Verified Member Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 Welp, Yanks in town, time for the Twins to roll over for that belly rub. And that head-stomping. Again. So sick of this intimidation factor deciding games before they even get on the field. So sick of the Empire blasting our X-wings out of the ether. Although it ain't exactly Skywalker leading the charge tonight...
LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 You’re not gonna field a championship team by wishing and hoping to catch lightning in a bottle. You have to spend money. Complaining about teams that do spend money is just deflecting
