Scott51104 Verified Member Posted April 20, 2022 Posted April 20, 2022 Maybe Joe Smith wasn't tired after two pitches and could have continued.
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted April 20, 2022 Posted April 20, 2022 I prefer paint drying to that half-inning.
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted April 20, 2022 Posted April 20, 2022 Pulls a guy (Gordon) that already hit a triple for Garlick, and then puts in Duffey when the guy can't throw his heat over 92, which is doom for Duffey. Rocco, you are managing to lose.
twinssporto Verified Member Posted April 20, 2022 Posted April 20, 2022 Is Duffy done pitching? Someone let me know...
Rosterman Verified Member Posted April 20, 2022 Posted April 20, 2022 I'm thinking the front office didn't put a whole lot of thought into the bullpen this year. Although, once again, they stocked the St. Paul Saints with a helluva a lot of arms that couldn't quite break the major league roster...yet.

Two pitches! Jeez. He threw yesterday, but that was 6 pitches after 3 days of rest. I get that it's consecutive days, but still, weird usage, unless he's pitching through some minor injury.

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2022 Posted April 20, 2022 We’ll I’ll be damned. Kepler hit it to the left side of the field.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted April 20, 2022 Posted April 20, 2022 I'm late, but Duffey at 91-93 MPH is an AAA pitcher.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted April 20, 2022 Posted April 20, 2022 Gee, Rocco, could you maybe have seen the Garlick vs. right handed pitcher in a game situation coming?

I had just said “I wouldn’t quite call it going the other way but…” The Roy Smalley called it “going the other way” like 3 times in a row.

I mentioned before that Garlick is very good against LHP. I should probably mention now he’s exceptionally bad against RHP.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2022 Posted April 20, 2022 Imagine what it would be like if this team could get a two-out hit with RISP...
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2022 Posted April 20, 2022 Maybe Rocco thinks it’s 2020-2021 and the 7 inning DH is now in every game. Why you don’t make substitutions in the 5th inning

wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2022 Posted April 20, 2022 Interesting note. Romero is the emergency catcher... So naturally he gets in the game too!

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2022 Posted April 20, 2022 Polanco is an excellent 2B. Nice play.
singlesoverwalks Verified Member Posted April 20, 2022 Posted April 20, 2022 The silver lining I will take from this game is Max Kepler hitting an opposite-field single off a left-handed pitcher. That authentically improved my mood.
David HK Verified Member Posted April 20, 2022 Posted April 20, 2022 Nice to see JC Romero back, and dealing heat at his age.
