Geeez ... I hate these games when the manager pulls the pitcher before 5 innings are complete

Geez, always with the sarcasm from this one.

Pinch hitting there sure tells the story of how they’ve starved for the big hit so far.

Gordon didn’t look happy.

Nor would most players. That’s how you screw up a clubhouse

I have the Royals feed. Does anyone know why Gordon was lifted for Garlick?

PH RH hitting Garlick for LH hitting Gordon vs LH reliever

I think it is:

A-desperation for a big hit

B-Garlick is a very good hitter against LHP

Yes they are, and Detroit may be worse. Watched their first few innings tonight against the Yankees. starting pitcher threw 42 pitches in the first inning and got pulled. Their second pitcher threw a pitch that, wait for it, hit the pitcher’s mound. He then left with an injury

Yeah Hernandez was chased in the 4th by Cleveland too. I get that the goal is to get fat beating up bad teams, but being there's a lot of room between "can contend," and "slightly less bad than bottom dwellers."

Interested to see what the bullpen looks like tonight.

I'll guess Smith, Coulombe, Duffey, Pagan.

That gets us through the 6th. Who gets the 7th?

You had me at “the goal is to get fat.”

Was archer always wound this tight? My goodness

Only when he's pumped & on, I'd be worried if he wasn't

That seems optimistic.

I needed that double play more than I need air in my lungs

A better agent could probably negotiate both for you!

8 whiffs on 22 swings on the slider for Archer (36%.) That'll play. Velo was up 2% on each pitch. He ran out of gas, but an encouraging start from another backend starter.
