With 3 homers today and the Yankees only having 1, the Twins are HOME RUN CHAMPS!   Wouldn't have thought it was possible the other day when the Yankees hit 7!  

Final Score 

Yankees: 306 

Twins: 307 and CHAMPIONS!

I didn't think we would beat the Yankee's in HR's after they caught us so I am surprised but really happy we get bragging rights for at least a year.  I think the way the game is going there will be more lineups like the Twins with power throughout the lineup.  What a year just can't believe how well the team did this year.  Such a fun season to follow.  Ups downs but we came out on top.  Now lets hope for a little more magic in the playoffs.

Hopefully MLB goes back to normal baseballs next year and this record stands for eternity.

 

There was squawking about the baseballs this year. 

 

The numbers produced were abnormal. I think it's quite possible that the commissioner's office takes a a hard look at the baseball they used this year. 

 

In my opinion. This record has a decent change of sticking around awhile. 

 

BTW... I wanted an AL Central Title first and foremost... but Yeah... I wanted this home run record... I've been prepared for the possibility for quite some time now. I would have hated to lose it to the Yankees on the last weekend.

As if the MLB numbers weren't damning enough, the billion percent jump in AAA this season makes it pretty clear that the balls were juiced.

Good chance that the only thing anyone remembers is which team out-homers the other in the post season...so, not sure I really care at this point much. Still, it was fun watching the Twins at the front of the league in any key offensive measure, watching all those balls leave the yard, and feeling like the club was almost never out of a game.

I'm happy they got the record, but I'll be a lot happier if it transfers over to some postseason success.

 

If the Bomba Kings go and get steamrolled by the Yankees, it will mean nothing in the grand scheme of things.

 

Still cool, but it'll be pretty meaningless.

Man, was watching the Yankees game with the middle of the order coming up with men on in the 9th. Hoping Graterol would egt us out of the inning and the Twins would have extra innings to try and hit more home runs. Both games ended close to the same minute with Stanton strucking out. It is a proud record. Will probably be a Twins Record forever and ever.

 

BOMBA SQUAD. Some good merchandizing here for the post-season. Hope they sell a lot of these shirts and caps in the next weeks.

They won’t go back to ‘unjuiced’ baseballs until the Yankees hold the record.

6) What impact will the October ballparks have on home runs?

There won't be any games at Coors Field this October, but on the other hand, there won't be any games in offense-suppressing parks like Miami or San Francisco, either.

One way we can look at this is to use Statcast data that evaluates how many parks each home run would have been out of, based on distance and height of fences. For example, this Brett Gardner home run from April would have been out of just one other park aside from Yankee Stadium -- Houston.

So, we can use that to see which October parks have allowed the highest percentage of "easy" homers, which we'll define as "homers that would have been out of 10 or fewer parks."

23% -- Minute Maid Park
20% -- Yankee Stadium
15% -- Dodger Stadium
12% -- Miller Park
10% -- Oakland Coliseum
9% -- Nationals Park
6% -- Busch Stadium
5% -- Tropicana Field
4% -- Target Field
1% -- SunTrust Park

Houston (61 such "easy" home runs) and New York (49) were easily the top two parks for non-crushed home runs, so the more games we have in those parks, the more home runs we'll get. This should tell you a little about how hard it is to get the ball out in Minnesota and especially in Atlanta, which has had something of a mistaken reputation as a new "launching pad."

Too lazy to see how many or which individual Twins can claim that.
