Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 I see some games are listed as “FS1 or MLBN”. Does anyone know what this means? Will the game broadcast on both channels or what? I get FS1 but not MLBN.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 Hopefully both because I have MLBN and not FS1...

In the past, I remember Kaat called one of the games, which will hopefully happen again.

Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted September 26, 2019 Author Posted September 26, 2019 How can you not have MLB network? Seems a must for baseball fans as ESPN coverage is so minimal nowadays. It's not offered via Hulu and I get my baseball information from internet reading and/or podcasts. I don't really watch baseball talking head commentary, as I find most of it basic at best, infuriatingly wrong at worst.
TwinsCD Verified Member Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 In years past, MLB has had games on the days where everyone is playing (4 games across the board). They're getting 2 ALDS games and my guess would be that those would be whatever the afternoon games are in that 4-game swing...which is probably going to be WC-Astros matchup. Best part about playing the Yankees is that the games will be in the prime spots on the TV schedule.

diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 It will be game day or a sports bar for me... Not sure MLB is doing themselves a favor by not keeping the games available over the air. Their ratings are dropping... so switching to cable completely seems kind of silly, especially knowing its viewership is dropping.

Everything but the World Series (and perhaps one LCS) has been on pay TV networks since 2007. Ratings are pretty meaningless, compared to revenue. Especially given the changing media landscape -- ratings in 2019 aren't really directly comparable to the ratings from just a few years ago, much less historical ratings from further back. As long as revenue is strong, it's hard to blame MLB for their TV strategy. They're trying to make MLB Network attractive to customers and carriers. And beyond that, it's generally the networks who decide to put a game on FS1 instead of Fox, or ESPN instead of ABC.

It’s great for those of us who have emigrated from the motherland.Games on national TV (including all postseason games) are blacked out across the entire US. But yeah, no blackouts outside the US that I know of -- except perhaps those new YouTube exclusives. I think even Canada is blackout-free, as Rogers (Jays owner/broadcaster) chooses not to enforce them. (Not sure about postseason in Canada, though.)

Anyone in the know care to post a link? The postseason package was still blacked out in the US. It was mostly for international customers, or US customers that just wanted the radio feeds. (Or you could also log in with cable credentials, I think, to prove you got the game on US cable -- and then you'd have access to the MLB.TV alternate feeds, at least.)

GrrrrrrI recently dumped Dish and got Hulu because when I got Dish I asked specifically about FSN. I said I’d only get Dish if I got FSN. I told them that they broke their contract with me, cancelled and switched to Hulu. I told them I will fight their attempts to make me pay early termination because it’s them that broke the contract with me. I will dispute it to the end.
