  1. Usually I would feel some sympathy toward Bert for being pushed out the way he is. But I don’t. Everyone on this board knows why he’s seeing a reduced schedule and he knows why as well. Last season, instead of making an earnest effort to learn some of the new metrics and philosophies, he seemed defiant in taking pride in being a Luddite. He’s getting a farewell tour instead of a fighting chance to show he can hang with people who care to learn more about the modern game. There no reason to bash him, I suppose. Though the sense of entitlement that prevailed over his last few years won’t be something I find myself longing for in the broadcast booth.
  2. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/effectively-wild-episode-1512-lets-predict-this-decade/ Not sure the proper protocol for linking to a podcast. The hosts are predicting the decade a la MLB’s the vault contest and Sam Miller predicts Buxton to win the most MVP awards between now and 2029. Anyone familiar with this podcast knows there’s a lot more to it than that. Worth a listen.
  3. In this hypothesis, what do the Twins do with Cave relative to the 26-man roster?
  4. There will be no video or audio for this, correct?
  5. Hill has been a Statcast darling for a while with spin rate and such. He, his career, and his pitches are anomalies. I hope the Twins see the type of person to relay information to other pitchers and coaches. Help the team unlock some of the Rich Hill secret sauce.
  6. Man. Takes like these. As if the Twins Daily crew are meeting with Pohlad goons in parking garages to accept briefcases of money to deflect criticism of not signing an oft-injured starter for $80million.
  7. I was just looking at that exact phenomenon. The Twins really did enjoy facing him this season.
  8. It’s just so difficult to imagine all 4 infield positions belonging to different players than those who filled them in a 100 win season. Yes, Sano played a little 1b and Arraez played a little 3b. No reason to think Polanco can’t handle 2b. Even if the shortstop was already signed, I can’t imagine that drastic a realignment.
  9. I wouldn’t trade Stroman for that package if I were the Mets. A league average LF/RF who isn’t cheap and has 2 years left, a high-floor medium-ceiling LF/RF prospect, a potential Utility player and a pitcher who might sniff the bigs. Also, I would guess 22 teams could easily and painlessly top that package.
  10. If you read the posted article, there’s some quirks to his presence beyond being someone who ‘wants to win.’ Not one single poster here has any insight into the Twins clubhouse vibe, but JD seems like a risk to bring in. Especially if the team or individual players get off to a slow start.
  11. Donaldson is a legitimate stud, but he is also high risk. This piece about him during his time in Toronto illustrates that he is a very big personality that probably can't be plugged into just any clubhouse. I might have never been one to place 'clubhouse chemistry' above performance, but that piece paints a picture that requires some thought. Basically, are the Twins OK with signing Donaldson and allowing him to takeover the team's personality?
  12. The cubs fans commenting on that tweet. Chef’s kiss.
  13. If something clicks and Gordon can play short, 2b, and all 3 OF positions, he is a very valuable major league player. It isn't something I'd thought about before. *If he can do anything with the bat.
  14. I know mlb.tv has (had?) a postseason package, but I’m not finding details of this years version. Anyone in the know care to post a link?
  15. Would be nice to rest some guys! C- Castro 1B- Astudillo 2B- Schoop 3B- Sano SS- Torreyes LF- Rosario CF- LaMarre/Miller RF- Miller/LaMarre DH- whoever wants the ABs. Not Cron.
  16. “Castillo was a nice guy from the left side but just a monster from the right.” -one of his neighbors if this turns out to be true.
  17. Lineup preferences aside, I always like seeing Arraez leading off an inning when the Twins are down. Even if he makes an out, he has fun, competitive ABs so frequently.
  18. Any insight on if/when this game might start?
  19. Perez is really struggling. Maybe some time as a low-leverage long reliever could come in handy? May was barely used and looked good when he came back out. Maybe he was working on something behind the scenes? If that’s the case, I wouldn’t mind seeing Perez receive that treatment.
  20. Anyone care to show the location of each ABs first pitch so far? Flowers and Inciarte both got very hittable strikes on 0-0
  21. Cleveland challenging a fair/foul leadoff double in the 9th
