  1. Any weather updates recently? Pretty long delay.
  2. I like that the team aggressively promoted someone with eye-popping, potentially flukey numbers in a spot where he was needed. They did it before anyone pushed for it. This FO is behaving very different from what we are used to.
  3. It was fun to watch Pence look lost yesterday on the breaking ball. Pence is a good hitter, and maybe he's in a funk, but it feels good to give credit for Berrios for exploiting that. He made him look foolish. Let's hope Pence stays as helpless against Turley's breaking stuff.
  4. Schrodinger's prospect
  5. Do you think 2016 Berrios gets the batter on the next pitch?
  6. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-fringe-five-baseballs-most-compelling-fringe-prospects-91/ http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-fringe-five-baseballs-most-compelling-fringe-prospects-90/ http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-fringe-five-baseballs-most-compelling-fringe-prospects-88/ http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-fringe-five-baseballs-most-compelling-fringe-prospects-85/ I suppose that's as good as any. Reposting for easier reference. Scary looking curve. Somehow looks taller than 6'6".
  7. I wondered that too. Pretty safe bet they will be used today at some point.
  8. 729:335 K:B MiLB career ratio. A little better than 2:1. Any reliable reports on which breaking balls and how hard he throws them?
  9. Excited to listen to the Giants announcers again. If anyone caught it last night, they were praising the Twins hustle the entire 2nd half of the game in a way I hadn't heard mentioned by any divisional announcers. Also featured a better breakdown of Santana's slider than I remember seeing elsewhere.
  10. I think that Turley lives there now. All mail forwarded to the Fringe Five.
  11. Chiming in to echo the free game of the day hack. Watch a couple, twins or not, and expect an email sent to address you used to login. This is the first year I played full price, every other year I waited until about now and purchased via the discount email link/code.
  12. I haven't delved too far into the numbers yet, but I am initially surprised that the basic numbers on the offensive side of the ball don't appear to explain too much. Apologies for formatting BA OBP SLG OPS Home: .250 .339 .416 .755 Road: .259 .330 .422 .752 Pitching is another story. I assume we can guess which is home and which is away. BAA OPB SLG OPS .272 .348 .467 .815 .225 .299 .385 .684 Does anyone have any theory on this discrepancy? The Dickbert narrative has been "putting too much pressure on themselves trying to please the fans," but that has mainly applied to any offensive struggles. I know that the numbers are slightly skewed by the blowout games at home, but numbers are numbers. Thoughts? http://www.espn.com/mlb/team/stats/splits/_/name/min/minnesota-twins
  13. Apologies if this has been discussed in this thread or another. Per MLBTR : "relievers Bobby Parnell and Ernesto Frieri. The two right-handers recently opted out of minor league deals (Parnell with the Royals, Frieri with the Yankees)" Obvious 25 and 40 man issues apply, but should the Twins show any interest in either of these un-sexy names? FWIW, Dyson seems broken to me.
  14. Is this just a random day off for Rosario?
  15. Its almost comical that his numbers are only as bad as they are.
  16. Former players and the whole 'the game has changed,' 'now-a-days...' trope gets tiring. Outside of that, I have enjoyed Torii.
  17. I would really appreciate better play at home. It has been a blast watching the team so far, but they play like a different (worse) team at home. I hope the walk-off sparked something.
  18. I heard it live and it struck me odd. I agree, never in a million years would I have put that together. Great catch, OP
  19. based on what we are seeing, I wouldn't be surprised if he's offered back to the Red Sox. Is anyone seeing some potential there, waiting to be unlocked? he looks like just an arm.
  20. Wilk is on the fringe. I'm certain that the team is scouting the waiver wire just to bring in fresh arms. We have seen Tepesch, Ruczinski, Wilk, Boshers, and Haley. Outside of Haley's rule V status, all of those listed pitchers are expendable. It is a very un-Twins like thing to do to pick a guy up and throw him in the fire for a few innings and discard him shortly after, but it looks like that might be the plan until the pen sorts itself out. I don't think someone like Wilk is thought as anything beyond a guy to eat a few innings before being given the boot.
  21. I have only seen a few Santiago starts. I wouldn't describe him as a fast worker. Even when the results are good, he's not particularly fun to watch.
