Any roster moves today?

I thought at least Stewart and maybe also Stashak would be shuttled today to get fresh arms.

It isn’t reasonable to expect any pitcher to go more than 5 against the Yankees. Since the All Star break only 1 starter has gone 7 and one other 6. Some good starters didn’t make it 6.

They need to expect no more than 5 from Odorizzi and be ready with at least 4 from the pen. Without moves I am not sure they have are prepared.

There will be one, if not two moves today.

Stewart out for sure, probably for Smeltzer.

Some other moves could be Stashak for Cody Allen (would need added to the 40 man), Fernando Romero (has been real good since being off the IL), or Sean Poppen.

July 31st can't come soon enough.

Neither Romero or Smeltzer have pitched since Saturday, I would think they'd be most likely.

Poppen gave up 8 runs in 3 innings on Sunday

Get anyone up who can throw strikes.   Guys will get hit around but our bullpen HAS to stop walking guys and giving extra base runners.  Especially all of the lead off walks.  Stashak was a breath of fresh air.  More of that PLEASE.

I gues Ryan Eades did well when he was in Minn before, although he has stunk in Rochester. Maybe he's the call. Jake Reed has really been awful in AAA this year or I would suggest we try him. Just don't send Stashak back - he actually might help us.

Eades is on the IL .

Stashak might be a victim of circumstance not results from last night. If they need someone who can potentially throw 2 innings tonight its probably not him

Agree re Stashak -- pretty good debut with 2 IP, no runs, no BBs and 3 Ks against the Yankees.  Worth keeping him around to see what he can do.

After the game yesterday, probably went about like this:

Fernando Romero (has been real good since being off the IL)

I don't know about that -- over those 4 games, Romero had 6.1 IP, 6H, 4 R, 3 BB, 9 K, 1 HR, 1.42 WHIP. (The ERA looks nice because 3 of the runs were unearned.)

It's not a terrible line, but nothing too special either.

My hope is Parker DFAd and Stewart demoted. Bring up Smeltzer and Romero.

At some point baseball just needs to expand to 28 players (look at those additional major league salaries) and they must submit a list of 25 players for each game, with no more than 13 being pitchers.

I'd hate to see Stashak go back. He's not the guy for today but we could use him going forward. I still say the best hing is to IL Parker for Littel. Or send down Cave for a pitcher since he never plays any way, unless he's going down for Buxton.

I agree. A 60 day IL stint for Parker seems in order.

Roster sizes move to 26 in the 2020 season.

I'm a little disappointed someone with your username didn't know that change was coming.

Blake Parker to St Paul Saints...

... who flip him to the Texas AirHogs (15-45 at this writing) for cash considerations. Saints are in first place and can't monkey around.

Again? You really do just want the money.

So far just Smeltzer up from AAA Rochester and Kohl Stewart back down to Rochester. Was really hoping for more.

When was the last time he pitched?

Literally, the only guys fresh enough to be available tonight would be May, Parker, and Smeltzer. Thorpe, maybe?
