  1. I'm fairly confident that on February 25th, the Twins and NYY are on a collision course for the AL pennant. I can't help but think how beneficial some of these injuries are to helping the Twins secure Home Field, which increases the Twins chances of beating the NYY from .001% to 1%. The author of this post assumes no liability if this post ages poorly.
  2. It seems the Twins set the all time MLB HR record el natural....... Give them a banner to hang, what an accomplishment..... for the hitters.
  3. And front load the contract, which the Twins can absorb (specifically this year, and likely next), which also should be attractive to the player. It creates the FO a bit more financial flexibility in years 3 and 4 (which I highly support the FO having payroll flexibility). 2022, and 2023 should have the next wave of talent entering the fold on the MLB team. If history is of any indication, there are some growing pains w/ Twins rookies/2nd year players. No guarantee Twins are competitive (at least in terms of unseating NYY). So it does create JD to be more attractive to other teams, if the Twins are not competitive and we are looking for a prospect return. Still need to trade for a SP, and idc if they wait until June/July, 4 NL East teams can't all make the playoffs.
  4. What's the rule on this: Braves @ Yankees: Tie game, 3-3; Top of the 7th, Runner on 1st and 3rd, 1 out. Yankees bring in Zach Britton to face Fred Freeman. After a long 12 pitch AB, Freeman draws a walk to load the bases. Britton gets ready to face Acuna and then Donaldson next. His first pitch to Acuna he forces a 'grimace of pain.' Trainers take no caution and rush right out. They determine that he is injured and needs to be replaced after facing just the one LHB. Post game: After further evaluation, no damage was done, Britton is Day to Day. There must be a clause to guard against this? TIA.
  5. It seems there is a small community that's rallying behind re-signing Pineada, Odo, AND acquiring two starters better than Berrios. Call me skeptical, I just can't realistically see the FO re-signing Odo and Pineada thinking they just locked up the back end of our rotation. Twins would do well to acquire 1 SP outside the organization that fills the top of the rotation this offseason. Slot Berrios, Odo, Pineada 2-4, and the remaining internal options battle or shuttle back and forth for the 5th spot. That rotation seems to fit well to win the AL Central again. Look to add another impact SP in June or July. I will give the FO credit in coining the phrase "impact pitching." Now acquire it.
  6. Didn’t the Twins have about a 100 point higher winning percentage on the road compared to home this season? I expected a split in NY, a split in Min and Gm5 all hands on deck. Gm 1 was our chance to split in NY. I won’t cite Baldelli not using Rogers and Romo as of yet as issues. They are our late inning guys, one of which with plenty of October experience. I think Berrios should have been brought back out to start the 5th, w/ Duffy and May ready to bridge the gap to late innings. Shoot even Graterol. But glad he got a look, experience, and confidence. He can and should be used if/when necessary.
  7. Saw Harvey at the Guthrie theatre a few summers back. Okay....Didn't actually 'see' him per se..... just his shadow. And right on cue, we had an extremely long winter here in Iowa the following year. Need a W today Twins.
  8. This is getting Ballzy..... Stupid......but Ballzy!
  9. Clocks ticking, if MadBum goes, so do their attractive BP pieces. Send Brusdar/Balazovic, Lanarch and Gordon and Get Will Smith also, call it a day. If they need 1 more sweetner in the 10-30 range prospect range do it.
  10. This is a test to be graded potentially after the trade deadline, or in October. The FO needs to make trades w/ the goal of (A) winning the World Series and ( Sustained success in 2020 and 2021 (pending SP acquisitions). Past that, is too many variables to let this record setting offense go to waste. I'll grade the performance based on the entire trade deadline (who was traded and for what vs Twins M&A's) and how we fair in October. If Syndergaard is still in a NYM uniform on Thursday, I hardly would blame our FO to meet such outlandish demands that seem to be league wide consensus. If a couple top bullpen arms are moved for anything less than a top 100 prospect, I'm going to be getting the red ink out. Get High end/late inning pieces & possibly Kennedy.
  11. Your first post is history! Welcome.
  12. As the Trade Game plays out longer, my concern is, how many deals can the Twins get done? I certainly wanted 2 RP that slot in as the Twins top 3. Possibly a SP that also slots in towards the top. I don't trust Falvine and Co to have 2+ deals on the table where they ship 5+ prospects and cash out to two or three different teams at the deadline. I do think they should focus on Kennedy now. Then as trade deadline gets nearer, we can look for the bigger haul from where ever those waters take us.
  13. They might want him to to complete the Inheritance Infield. Vlad, Bichette, Biggio, and Gordon. Surely Gordon has enough bat to occupy 1B.
