Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Let's play a fun game and pretend this is game 2 or 3 of the ALDS. Who are you bringing in to stop the bleeding and keep them in the game for 5 innings? At this point... probably Pineda, because he'll be in the bullpen.
David HK Verified Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Devers probably fell asleep waiting for Gibby to pitch, then pulled a muscle when he had to wake up suddenly.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Anyone want to bet whether Nunez' helmet falls off?
HawksNest Verified Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 It's the EXACT opposite of what you want to do as a pitcher. Your hitters go out and grab the lead and you come back out give up a run and now we're 2nd and 3rd with no one out. Completely demoralizing
ashbury Verified Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 I had a boss once, who frequently used the phrase "revolting development" for any mishap, anticipated or actual.* The top of the fifth is becoming that. * Yeah, probably stated in my presence, more often than not
jz7233 Provisional Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Why didn't pitching coach come out to give some game advisory before Bogaerts' at bat? It seemed so obvious Gibson was lost.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 At this point... probably Pineda, because he'll be in the bullpen.Yeah it would most likely be him. They would need multiple innings from someone. Could make a case this is the highest leverage of the game and bring in Rogers for as long as he can go... Then... *shrug* Hopefully it's Will Smith!
wabene Verified Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Geez sign the guy to a long term deal then he rakes his way to the all-star game? Not exactly a cliche Mr Kepler
denarded Verified Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 I understand pitching around studs, but when you constantly pitch to the edges to every batter you end up walking a ton. I know it's almost a meme about Gibson being a nibbler, but this gets old and as poster above said "Demoralizing"
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 I would like to amend my short "do not trade" prospect list to include Arraez. Kid is just a natural hitter!
David HK Verified Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Thanks for playin', Kyle! See ya later, enjoy that shower!

Darius Verified Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Good grief, Gibson. Getting owned by Holt and Chavis. We are seeing on full display why we need to get some pitching in here if we’re going make win a playoff series.
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Very disappointed in Gibson tonight. But I think him "nibbling" is just inaccurate. The new improved Gibson we have seen since second half of 2017 has a very different approach and mentality. I think he just had lousy control tonight.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Somewhere around here there was a poll on whether or not Gibson was a #3 starter and I voted yes. Where do I go to get my vote back?
AlwaysinModeration Verified Member Posted June 20, 2019 Author Posted June 20, 2019 Why isn’t Sean Poppen in the game? Also, Boston is traditionally a very selective team. They forced Gibson to throw them strikes, and he wasn’t doing it.
David HK Verified Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Cripe again. Um, Mr. Harper, I think the plan is to throw strikes to a guy who's flirting with the Mendoza Line. But that's OK, walk him, put a guy in scoring position, so you can get to Betts...

LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Why isn’t Sean Poppen in the game? He's got a bad case of teh jet lagz... Must not have made fists with his toes after his flight. Mind your nuggets of wisdom from Die Hard, youngsters!

He wasn't nibbling, he just didn't have it.
Linus Verified Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 It’s refreshing to have Jack in the booth tonight to refute all of Dick’s homer excuses abou the game last night. It’s so predictable they were coming
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 How is he not sitting on that pitch? And why is he not looking for that pitch period? His approach is a mess right now.
