SwainZag Community Moderator Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 First and foremost I would like to wish a Happy Father's day to all the dads out there, including my own! I am not a father, but what a great day it is. Not only do the best team in baseball go for a sweep of the Royals today, we get Sunday at Pebble Beach for the US Open Crown. Golf has been a past time with my father and we will be hitting the links this afternoon with Twins game on the radio. I hope all of you get to spend some time with your fathers today, or with your kids and make some long lasting memories today. In a favorite film of mine, Little Big League, when the front office is talking about letting Billy the kid manager the ballclub, they utter the line, "It's only June and people are already starting to talk about gopher football." I had a friend yesterday, who is a Seattle Mariners fan, tell me that the first Preseason game is in less than 2 months. Most years I would be already starting to gloss over the NFL mentally preparing for fantasy football. Looking at the Vikes schedule and day dreaming about a 12+ win season. What a difference it makes actually watching a damn good baseball team is! The overall general buzz and actually looking forward to adding talent at the deadline. It's the middle of June and our Twins are 25 games over .500 and have an 11 game lead in the AL Central. I know we all know the numbers, but sit back and let it sink in. It is the earliest in team history to 25 games over .500, just wow. The Twins will send lefty Martin Perez to the bump who is looking for his 1st win since May 23rd, while the Royals will send out Jake Junis, who is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA in 5 career starts against the Twins. Buxton will get today off recovering from the wrist injury, meanwhile after some challenges out in the field the last few days, Cron gets the day off too with Adrianza getting the start at 1st. GO TWINS! Bad Guys1. Merrifield 1B2. Mondesi SS3. Gordon LF4. Soler DH5. Cuthbert 3B6. Bonifacio RF7. Lopez 2B8. Maldonado C9. Hamilton CF Starting Pitcher: Jake Junis Good Guys1. Max Kepler CF2. Jorge Polanco SS3. Nelson Cruz DH4. Eddie Rosario LF5. Miguel Sano 3B6. Marwin Gonzalez RF7. Jonathan Schoop 2B8. Jason Castro C9. Ehire Adrianza 1B Starting Pitcher : Martin Perez

PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 I think Sano makes more sense at first than Adrianza
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Random, non-baseball thought while wandering through the Farmers' Market this morning: Do farmers need accountants to N-cumber their Q-cumbers?
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Cleveland is taking Detroit out back to the woodshed... no help from Gardy today... or so it looks.
AlwaysinModeration Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Twins season by tens:6-47-36-46-49-16-47-2 They don’t have an 8-2 stretch (or a non-winning stretch). How about adding one today? Happy Father’s Day to all of us fathers out there.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 I hope we win. And so would dad, if he were still here.

operation mindcrime Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Good at bat from Sano!!!
jtkoupal Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Is that a tie clipped on Maldonado's chest protecter?
mrtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 I know the twins are aggresive, but when a guy walks 2 , whatever happened to take a strike???
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 How awesome Perez was in the first few months of the season might be the most impressive thing I’ve ever seen considering how not good he is
stringer bell Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Tough inning for Pérez. He has not yielded much hard contact, but they've got a crooked number and he's not done yet.
jz7233 Provisional Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Trade Perez when he has some value.
MNT1996 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Please let those Bumgarner trade rumors be true
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Yup, Perez is the guy he was back in Texas. He's going to give up a lot of runs and maybe get 5 innings... maybe a move to the bullpen would be the best for him.
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Trade Perez when he has some value. Is it too late?

MNT1996 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Well the good thing is that this game probably isn't going to stay 3-0, but hopefully the rest of the runs go to us
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 I know the twins are aggresive, but when a guy walks 2 , whatever happened to take a strike???Yep. That's my only criticism of Keppler yesterday in the same bases-full, two-out situation. Might get a walk, might get a wild pitch if you let a few go by. Sigh.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Yep. That's my only criticism of Keppler yesterday in the same bases-full, two-out situation. Might get a walk, might get a wild pitch if you let a few go by. Sigh.Especially after the guy in front of you just walked. I can see with less than two outs but not there
stringer bell Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Pérez' velo is down just a bit, is it not?
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 And another thing: The Twins are the best walks-per-game pitching staff in the AL, yet every single time we lead off innings with a walk, bad things follow. Uncanny. OK, I'm done now. Even the 1929 Yankees lost a few to the Red Sox.
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 I'm at work and following the game on ESPN play-by-play. How close was Solar's fly ball from going out just now? It looks like it was caught with six inches to spare at the batter's eye.
Blake Verified Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 I thought Sano had some questionable fielding during the 3 run second.
Marek Houston Wichita Wind Surge - AA SS On Saturday, Houston went 3-for-5 and scored two runs. After a short slump, he is now back over .290 on the season. Explore Marek Houston News >
