Yep. That's my only criticism of Keppler yesterday in the same bases-full, two-out situation. Might get a walk, might get a wild pitch if you let a few go by. Sigh.

Sometimes the best pitch you'll see that at bat is the first pitch because the pitcher wants to get it over the plate for strike 1. In this case Gonzalez saw a hitable pitch, but didn't square it up

I'm at work and following the game on ESPN play-by-play. How close was Solar's fly ball from going out just now? It looks like it was caught with six inches to spare at the batter's eye.

Warning track fly ball.

Nice third inning for Pérez. I'm not ready to give up on his improvement. I think he has enough stuff to be very effective.

Considering the quality of some of the arms the Twins have used the last three years, Perez looks like a Cy Young award winner.

Seem like that second inning was a lot of bad luck on well-placed, but not hard-hit, balls. However, he seemed totally unable to get swings and misses, so if you let them eventually put it in play, they will often find holes.

A recent uptick in walks and not being able to get swinging misses is not a good combo

ESPN shows Pérez with seven swings and misses through three innings, fourteen foul balls. Junis' numbers quite similar.

Seems like most of the former have been with <2 strikes and the latter have been with 2 strikes. But that's probably misperception.

We've been making the Royals look decent this series. Kinda pathetic.

It’s never easy to win ballgames. But I do think it would benefit the team to have something to play and (fight) for, like something remotely resembling a division race. Still 3 1/2 months left and if the Indians get no closer, I wonder how the lack of playing tight, meaningful games might impact things down the road. It is concerning to see sloppiness. Hopefully they tighten things up, been sloppy for sure

Man, it was sure nice for this squad when Perez was a good pitcher for a few weeks. So much for having fixed him (where is his agent to take the credit for his slide?)

Every time he takes just reinforces that this team also needs another competent starter. Berrios, Gibson, Odiorizzi isn’t the worst when isn’t the worst when it comes to a playoff rotation, but it could certainly be better (especially with Odorizzi due to come back to earth).

Not only should this club be thinking about making the playoffs, but grabbing the overall 1 seed. That’ll be tough if they don’t reinforce the rotation/bullpen.

They’re all tight meaningful games when you’re playing leapfrog with the Astros for the best record in the AL, and the Yankees looking to get healthy.

These guys are aware that they’re playing for playoff positioning (and to fend off the Indians).

If they put on cruise control now (which they aren’t), Baldelli isn’t doing his job.

Gonzalez looked horrid at the plate in that at bat. Good thing he got hit, eh?

Time to get to Junis. Every other team seems to.....

Runners at first and second with no outs. This is a good chance to tie or take a lead.

I don’t disagree with you, but there has to be the threat of complacency around the corner when you’d had a double digit division lead since May. Homefield is certainly something to fight for, but let’s just be honest here, avoiding playing the Yankees would be a higher priority for me. Just my 2c
