First and foremost I would like to wish a Happy Father's day to all the dads out there, including my own!  I am not a father, but what a great day it is.  Not only do the best team in baseball go for a sweep of the Royals today, we get Sunday at Pebble Beach for the US Open Crown.  Golf has been a past time with my father and we will be hitting the links this afternoon with Twins game on the radio.  I hope all of you get to spend some time with your fathers today, or with your kids and make some long lasting memories today.

In a favorite film of mine, Little Big League, when the front office is talking about letting Billy the kid manager the ballclub, they utter the line, "It's only June and people are already starting to talk about gopher football."  I had a friend yesterday, who is a Seattle Mariners fan, tell me that the first Preseason game is in less than 2 months.  Most years I would be already starting to gloss over the NFL mentally preparing for fantasy football.  Looking at the Vikes schedule and day dreaming about a 12+ win season.  What a difference it makes actually watching a damn good baseball team is!  The overall general buzz and actually looking forward to adding talent at the deadline. It's the middle of June and our Twins are 25 games over .500 and have an 11 game lead in the AL Central.  I know we all know the numbers, but sit back and let it sink in.  It is the earliest in team history to 25 games over .500, just wow.

The Twins will send lefty Martin Perez to the bump who is looking for his 1st win since May 23rd, while the Royals will send out Jake Junis, who is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA in 5 career starts against the Twins. Buxton will get today off recovering from the wrist injury, meanwhile after some challenges out in the field the last few days, Cron gets the day off too with Adrianza getting the start at 1st.

No Buxton again. Wrist injuries are terrifying for hitters. Please, give Buxton all the time he needs, Rocco.

Remember how long it took Cruz, YEs be patient

Random, non-baseball thought while wandering through the Farmers' Market this morning: Do farmers need accountants to N-cumber their Q-cumbers?

Twins season by tens:
6-4
7-3
6-4
6-4
9-1
6-4
7-2

They don’t have an 8-2 stretch (or a non-winning stretch). How about adding one today?

Happy Father’s Day to all of us fathers out there.

I read somewhere, maybe here, that the Twins have no 6-game stretch this year with more than 3 losses.

How awesome Perez was in the first few months of the season might be the most impressive thing I’ve ever seen considering how not good he is

Yup, Perez is the guy he was back in Texas. He's going to give up a lot of runs and maybe get 5 innings... maybe a move to the bullpen would be the best for him.

Yes, another team’s pen would be great

I know the twins are aggresive, but when a guy walks 2 , whatever happened to take a strike???

Yep. That's my only criticism of Keppler yesterday in the same bases-full, two-out situation. Might get a walk, might get a wild pitch if you let a few go by. Sigh.

Especially after the guy in front of you just walked. I can see with less than two outs but not there

And another thing: The Twins are the best walks-per-game pitching staff in the AL, yet every single time we lead off innings with a walk, bad things follow. Uncanny. OK, I'm done now. Even the 1929 Yankees lost a few to the Red Sox.

I'm at work and following the game on ESPN play-by-play. How close was Solar's fly ball from going out just now? It looks like it was caught with six inches to spare at the batter's eye.
