Yikes, did not realize that, I just saw the box score.

I just watched the video and wish I hadn't. Reminds me of Joel Zumaya years ago.

I could have been nicer.... Sorry. And yes, awful video.

Danny Santana is off to a hot start for Texas: .962 OPS through 9 games, plus 4 steals. Exclusively playing 2B so far.

BABIP is only .370 this time. I would have bet on it being above .400. :)

Wow, what a fall for Ervin. He had the best ERA+ of his career in 2017...

Glad we got to see peak Erv at the end. It never sounded promising after his finger surgery. Unfortunately that ruined his hard slider and fast ball forever.

Maybe I'm being nit-picky here, but to my recollection three of these guys (Hicks, Anderson, Rodriguez) never played a major league inning for the Twins. Is it fair to call them ex-Twins?

That said, it is interesting who is thriving and who isn't.

This is a great list big dog, thank you. I've got to imagine this is the final season we'll see Nunez and Morales on an MLB team. Grossman's stats don't surprise me in the least, but he'll find his way on another team or 7 before it's all said and done.

Dereck Rodriguez sure came back to Earth this season... Finally, I wonder if Liam Hendricks is going to be available this season for trade?

Obviously, only a handful of these players are better than replacement level today, but still, when we see a full roster of Twins discards still showing up in a daily boxscore review, it begs the question about what kind of returns this organization historically has been getting. I'd venture to say "inadequate".

Wow. That’s the worst slash line I’ve ever seen.

He was batting .029, but it was an empty .029.

If they once got a paycheck from the Twins, then they are ex-Twins.

I believe the mlb club still cuts the checks for the minor leaguers.

There was an article by the Yankees GM or Manager about Hicks being the most underrated player in the MLB.  He is good and just didn't get there here.  Not sure he would have been given the chance under Molitor.  Maybe now but it is too late for that.

We'll never know for sure unfortunately. My guess is he would have been given the chance, but I don't think he would have flourished like he did in New York. The previous regime was too far behind from a coaching/tech standpoint I doubt they would have fixed him.

Small sample size (15.2 innings pitched) but Liriano has pitched well in the bullpen for the Pirates so far this year.  He has a 1.15 ERA with 18 strikeouts.

Glad to hear when ex-Twins do well. Liriano has disappointed for a long time, but might have found his niche.

I gave up on Hicks, never believing he’d be better than a fourth OF. In a sense, he is like Buxton in that he can be an asset with a BA <.250. In Hicks’ case, it is not only defense and base running, but an elite ability to judge balls and strikes at the plate.

He’s been fine as a LH hitter which was a major problem with the Twins.

Ryan Pressly set the Astros franchise record for consecutive scoreless innings the other night. He's up to 33 dating back to last August. (He has allowed 4 inherited runners to score during that time, if you want to put an asterisk by his record. :) )

Melville and Dean are back in the majors.

Like to also see how former minor league guys are doing, that the Twins didn't feel deserving of giving a callup. Totally missed that John Curtis made it back to the major for a moment.

Actually Melville are Dean are just reporting to AAA for now -- the Rockies purchased their contracts from independent league teams, but haven't added them to their MLB roster at this time.

Tyler Austin starts about once per week in San Fran these days - mostly against lefthanders. He seems to be the primary PH for the Giants, which maybe best suits his skill set. He hit a pinch-hit triple on May 7 in a 14-4 rout.

He's batting .314 with 0 HR and 3 RBI on the season.

Danny Santana.....still a thing.

Amazing, honestly. He's enjoying a hot start to the season! Similar to his last good season in 2014, he has a crazy high BABIP of .392 right now.

Posted

Kennys Vargas isn't doing well overseas...

.203/.345/.319 1 HR in 84 PA. With a 25 Ks and 13 BB.

Maybe like in Mr Baseball they will find a hole in his swing??
