Brandon Verified Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 What are the prospects we should be looking at from the Brewers in a trade? Seems almost certain he will end up here in a few days. Him or Escobar...
bluechipper Provisional Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 Freddy Peralta is the guy I would target.

ChrisKnutson Verified Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 An MLBTR report said it’s possible that Milwaukee is in on both Dozier and Escobar. So if that’s the case, I’d deal them both to the Brewers for (LHP) Kodi Medeiros, (1st) Jake Gatewood, and © Mario Feliciano.
RaoulDuke Verified Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 "The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal (Twitter links) hears that the Twins have been approached about dealing Brian Dozier and Eduardo Escobar in the same trade" https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/07/trade-rumblings-reactions-twins-os-fulmer-mets-familia-machado.html This could be an interesting twist, leaves the middle infield bare but could yield a much better return. If it were to happen I think Sano is back up quickly, Adrianza and Polanco get the middle, and maybe Gordon gets a taste of the bigs. I prefer to keep Escobar unless its a great return but he certainly should be moveable for a big prospect.

I think that might actually be a little low for a return for both players. While Medeiros is having a good year this year be has had control problems and there are questions as to whether he can remain a starter or not. Gatewood doesn't seem to fit the new Twins bat first profile as he has a lot of contact issues and an OBP below 300. Their catcher Feliciano is only hitting a a buck 40 in high A. Granted he is only 19 but again he have plenty of catchers that cannot hit. While all the players you mention still have fairly high upside that upside comes with a bit more risk than I would want to take on if I were the FO. I think I would go for Marcos Diplan, Zach Brown and Carlos Rodriguez. Diplan and Brown are both AA pitchers with decent K9, WHIP and ERA numbers. Rodriguez is bat first lottery ticket.

Besides, none of the other realistic options really stand out to me, except for Diplan.

I like the Phillies system better for an Esco trade and I hope they offer something decent. For Dozier the return is hard to say. I would think the reason the Brewers would package the two is for the Twins to get a higher ranked guy and then lottery tickets.Probably depends on the market for both players to work.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 Most of Milwaukee's interesting young pieces are already at the MLB level and likely unavailable. If the Twins do business with them for some of the guys already mentioned they should also be pushing for one of the tradable sandwich round draft picks and/or international bonus pool cash as well.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 they should also be pushing for one of the tradable sandwich round draft picksCan they trade those 2019 picks yet? I don't think they've actually been awarded yet. I guess we could do "future considerations" and treat it like a PTBNL, with some contingencies. If it's like the 2018 draft, Milwaukee's only tradeable pick will be in the #74 range, like the one we sold with Hughes. Similar with the international bonus money, they can't trade for the next period yet, so it would be from the current 2018-2019 period. The Twins and Brewers both started with about $6 mil in their pools. I have no idea how much is left and what it is worth at this point, though -- I think only 1 of MLB's top 30 is still unsigned...
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 Speaking of 2019 draft, the Twins are "up" to #10. And we're closer to #5 than we are to .500. Maybe we need to start including this link in the daily recaps: http://www.tankathon.com/mlb On the bright side, we hurt KC's chances at the #1 overall pick this past weekend! If we "lose out" our remaining head-to-head matchups, we can easily pass Detroit. Need some help to reach the White Sox or Royals, though...

This year is shot and being middle of the pack is worthless. Trade all the pieces and let the young guys come up. Take some lumps and get us a better pick. If they win more than the previous crew...... great! Doubtful but great. I echo the Brewer farm non-fit sentiment. I am not enamored with any of the pieces deemed available. Would really like it if we got someone like Boston in here pushing the price up. As a FO, you have to deem who should get time in the majors that is not right now. Romero, Gonzo, Gordon, probably two I am missing yet. Trade that many MLB pieces to open up playing time for these guys and lets roll. This team is fully capable of picking in the top 5 next year..... Royals proved that
bluechipper Provisional Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 That isn't realistic. If the Brewers want both Escobar and Dozier, Peralta is really the only interesting guy they have, unless they're giving up one of their top guys. The rest of the top 15 is so uninteresting to me.

Good call, those things aren't cemented until the off season. I wonder if there is verbiage specifically saying a team can or cannot move those things as a part of future considerations. The Brewers likely should still be getting a compensation pick due to market size but where that pick falls is still in the air.
jkcarew Verified Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 I prefer to keep Escobar unless its a great return but he certainly should be moveable for a big prospect. He's a free agent in 3 months, so "big" will be a relative term. Still a lot of chatter on these threads regarding how the Twins 'should' keep Escobar. It's hard to disagree...but, it missed the point a bit. If Escobar wants to experience the open marked (and why wouldn't he, at this point)...then there's not much the Twins will be able to do....other than trade him first.
Doctor Wu Verified Member Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 Speaking of the Brewers, one of their starting pitchers Brent Suter, just went on the DL and will need to have Tommy John surgery. Maybe we could package Dozier with Lance Lynn for a decent prospect?

TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 If the Brewers want both Escobar and Dozier, Peralta is really the only interesting guy they have, unless they're giving up one of their top guys. The rest of the top 15 is so uninteresting to me. Peralta is currently in their playoff rotation. You might as well ask them for Lorenzo Cain or Yelich. It's that unrealistic. It's ok not to be enamored with their guys, but if that's your bar for Dozier you just aren't being realistic.

The rest of the top 15 is so uninteresting to me.Yeah, however, with Suter going down with TJ surgery the Brewers need Peralta to pitch. It wouldn't do them any good to bring on Escobar and Dozier and then not be able to have enough pitchers to compete?? I'm with you, I'd love to see Peralta, but I just don't think it helps the Brewers in any way shape or form to give up probably their 3rd or 4th best starter for Escobar and Dozier. Without Peralta they probably won't be in the running anyways?

jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 Fine with trading Dozier, then bring up Gordon. Not so fine with losing Esco, tho it'll most likely be a short term rental where he could be a Twin next season.
Platoon Verified Member Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 I imagine Dozier will bring in a kings ransom. His post ASG surge, and unique ability to drive in runs from the 3 hole with IF GB's is hard to come by.
