DaveW: Dodgers trade for Dozier to be completed within the next 24 hours

He is rated as a #3 starter.  Twins have a lot of that type 1-2 years away.  We needed one with a #1 or #2 upside.  Do not hate De Leon.  Just does not pass the muster I was looking for.  That being said would need to see the rest of the trade before totally passing judgement on it.

I dunno, I have seen plenty of reports of him being a #2 moving forward. #3 is his floor, high end number two/borderline #1 is his ceiling.

Also we hear every year that the Twins have a bunch of #3 starters a year or two away....how has that worked out the last 6 years?

Better be De Leon and Bellinger

You are on the right track.

He's way better than anything than the Twins have. He's absolutely dominated the high minors. The biggest knock on him is that he doesn't have a big fastball. That doesn't doom a pitcher to mid-rotation status if he has other plus pitches and command. Which he does.

So there is a possibility it is both De Leon and Bellinger?

My face might melt like a Nazi in an Indiana Jones movie if that's the case.

I hate that only DaveW is the only source on this.  Nothing against DaveW but I wish someone else would let something slip.

Plus, I'm going on vacation tomorrow so I want it NOW!

Well that is what happened to me when I saw what Chicago got for Eaton.

If Adam Eaton nets Lucas Giolito+, Dozier should absolutely nab Urias+.

Eaton has a career 116 OPS+, which was higher than Dozier's previous career high. Also he is 2 years younger with 5 years of control on his deal too.

And Giolito is notably below Urias. Giolito is still a prospect, Urias is a budding star.

I would be happy as a pig in you know what if the Twins managed to get both Urias and De Leon.  I know it's not going to happen, but would gladly eat crow if it did.

I'm not a source.

There has been plenty of other smoke recently as well.

My source told me that what I said in the OP.

Urias is more or less untouchable. There is a reason why the Dodgers weren't in on Sale....

Who is this source feeding his exclusive blockbuster information to the "Spirit of Vodka Dave" and leaving major media and social media outlets in the dark?

Is Mark DeRosa involved somehow? :)

None of this is blockbuster information. It's been hinted at all over the place the last week anyways.

It's a contact I have within one of the two orgs, I mean there is a reason why I never have to pay for tickets when I goto Twins and Dodgers games....

ITT: A lot of people overrating Brian Dozier and underrating Adam Eaton.

I'd be very happy with a Bellinger and De Leon haul.

I'd be over the moon with that.

I'm hoping for De Leon and Alvarez are the main return and would like someone like Buehler/Sheffield as the 3rd player (to help mitigate the risk involved in trading for a low A pitcher like Alvarez).

I'm here too.  De Leon and Alvarez.  I don't really care too much about 3 and 4.  I'm fine with high risk high reward type guys.

Eaton is under team control through 2021 (5 years) at a very good salary (38.4M).GREAT value there.

He was a 6 WAR player last year, 12.8 over the last 3 years.

Dozier is older and under control for two years

He was at 5.9 WAR last year and 13.9 WAR over the last 3 years.

Eaton has considerably more value.

There's been nothing remotely this concrete reported yet, though. Biggest thing was the Dodgers piqued the Twins interest, but even that called more rumor than fact.

LA radio AM570 has said yesterday that the Dodgers have a very good trade offer on the table and are essentially just waiting on the Twins to decide for sure they want to trade Dozier.
