What year is it over there?

Because of your answer, you get the ultimate 7th inning stretch song.

I've been in the Chicago area for all but 10 of my 40 years (when I was in MN), and this past winter was the most mild I can ever remember. I think we had a total of two instances of accumulating snow (I only needed to go out and shovel the walk twice the entire winter), and there have been multiple days we got into the 60's, including in February at least once. I believe only got below zero for a total of a few hours overnight one night in December. I've heard all winter how rough it's been in MN from different people. One of the snowiest on record! What a difference 400 miles south can make.

The sun being up until 7 PM has been a great change of pace lately. Just wish it wasn’t 20 degrees below normal temps for this time of year!

Welcome back to MN!  When did you move back?

October 2021. So this is winter #2 back in the motherland after living in TX for 8 years.

Opening day is right around the corner, and I should be giddy with excitement! For those living in Minnesota, you know the struggle. We haven’t seen the first sign of spring yet. The last day it was 50+ degrees in Minnesota was November 26. Supposedly we’re getting 2 more slushy inches of snow on Friday.

Baseball is synonymous with warm weather… Green grass, birds chirping, sunshine, and the occasional @Squirrelrunning onto the field.

So help me help you… What gets you in the mood for baseball when sunny 80 degree days are still a few weeks away?

Would it help if I said that it is supposed to be 84 here Saturday? ;)

What is like being outdoors and not having to wear a winter jacket?

Uhh... I haven't unpacked or worn a winter jacket in about 12 years 🤷‍♂️

Between the last 4 years of HS baseball and now college, baseball (especially baseball in GA ad FL) starts early.  Early to the point that my son's HS seasons started at the end of December, and even college started at the beginning of February... so we have been and continue to be knee deep in baseball fever before even the afterglow of Christmas and New Years has passed.

It gets a little tiring and stressful at times, but we wouldn't change it for the world.

So here in lovely Minnesota, one of my part-time semi-retired jobs is as a tutor at the University of Minnesota, specifically for the student athletes. Right now is a particularly dead time, with the hockey team competing for the championship and the Spring-Summer teams ramping up. Gophers on the run; I expect an influx of students after midterms. :)

I've had enough. I don't like being the Winter complainer because I've lived in winter land almost my entire life but... enough is enough. The melt should have begun by now.

Frosty should be worried not partying.

My son went to NDSU in Fargo, and you're like 80 miles further north. Four years of that trek was brutal. The Twin Cities are bad enough...I couldn't take the winters up there. Not fit for man or beast...and this beast likes warmth.

That's pretty awesome.  My son had the "I don't think this major is the best fit for you" speech from his academic advisor already, but luckily he switched from Engineering to Biology/Sports Medicine and has from the sound of it, found his niche.

Luckily his coach is also heavily focused on the team's academics and stays heavily involved in that arena.

Just avoid Atlanta.  Other than that, plenty of space and warm weather down here :).

We are forbidden, by NCAA and University policy, from interacting with coaches at all. There’s another layer of management that does that.

I’m tutoring Mathematics and Computer Science. Mostly a bunch of beginning Python programmers at the moment.

Cool.

Although I should clarify that he stays involved in the sense that he is as passionate about grades as he is baseball.

I just swapped out the winter snow tires for our spring snow tires on our Subaru, so I'm ready for baseball.  The spring snow tires are made with a little firmer rubber compound than the winter ones but not quite as firm as the summer snow tires I prefer.

Well done on the optimism of 80 degree days being a few weeks away...can I book it for the 3rd week of April?  Lets hope for a fast start to the season in the W column.

Bold… Dare I say reckless to assume you are free and clear of needing winter snow tires!

The foot of snow we got yesterday was of the warmer variety, so we're good.

By my calculation, the Honda snowblower and I have completed a half-marathon on our driveway this winter. Not as bad as it sounds, as it's uphill in only one direction.

I got a little excited because I was able to watch a MLBTV free game a few nights ago.  I got to see a few names I recognized so that was good.  I sure wished they would have played the expected starting lineup.  I think it would have been nice to see them together before the season started especially for those of us who have little or no access to watch the games on TV.  For me it is hard to get involved/excited for a name I can't put a face to.  That has been one of the hardest parts since Bally's left DISH.  I left DISH for YouTube TV but still not much I can see.  Hesitating on renewing my MLB app to listen to the radio broadcast based solely on the principle of the MLB and owners are greedy and signed TV contracts for the money not realizing how many fans will not have access.

Yeah, 5th snowiest winter on record for Hayward WI and Duluth. I'm still in cross country ski season mode!

Every time I turn on the news they are talking about Lake Tahoe getting hit with two feet of snow. It seemed impossible to me and then you sent this photo of you.

The good news is that the Lake Tahoe snow is all melted now. The bad news is that I live on land, above it.

I was going to give your post a like until it occurred to me that I might give the impression that I like what you are going through.

Duluth is at 125.8 inches with 3-6 inches coming tomorrow and I heard a foot next week! Yay! The record was 125 inches so it will be broken. Gonna have to take Friday off to catch some more untracked spring powder. An epic ski season of endless telemark turns and backcountry adventures. So deep I've had to leave the dogs behind many times.

I know I'm the odd one because everywhere I go people are complaining while I'm just quietly stoked. Vive la neige!!

I have tickets for 4/6. Forecast: high of 40ºF. We'll have to bundle up, but I'd rather do that for baseball than for football.

At least the games are 25 minutes shorter this year!…………I moved to Cincinnati at age 28, in ‘91. They are mowing our grass outside the Condo this morning.

Hope it’s better/warmer soon for everyone’s sake & to minimize game cancellations!

Good luck.

Since I will be at work for opening day ... waaa! 🙁 ... I'm holding off on my tradition of buying hotdogs. Will save that for ... another day ... but it is my annual tradition and the only time I buy hotdogs
