  1. This team is a mess and we're talking about deck chairs
  2. I would like to bump this topic back to the top, now that the twins have been absolutely embarrassed by the tigers for two games. Anyone think this management group should still be around in two more years?
  3. I just got on here to see if someone could explain to me why that was not recorded as an E4.
  4. If the geniuses would have cut Pagan and Kepler before the season like any rational person I am absolutely certain they would have 5 more wins by now.
  5. I propose setting the line at 1.5, assuming no dramatic improvement from the current lackluster pace, which now goes back basically 2.5 seasons. Injuries have been a disaster, both with their own players and identifying players from outside, they have swung big (for the Twins) on the trade market but that has mostly gone terribly (although I will grant them the quality starting rotation they put together at great expense largely through trade), the "pitching pipeline" has not materialized, they haven't hit a lick since 2020, and the ongoing roster mismanagement continues to be a head scratcher. 7 years in (already more than they gave Bill Smith), and you have to ask yourself, have they really made any strides success-wise? The deck chairs are all rearranged, but has this group really made any progress over what Terry Ryan got them in general?
  6. I think if this season ends up largely a continuation of last season, and it certainly seems trending that way....the continued backfired trades and free agent signings, curious roster decisions, etc etc., I honestly think they might be in double secret probation territory. This group has completely shuffled the deck chairs around, probably to the point where they have a blind over-reliance on the odds and numbers at this point, and they have had no additional success whatsoever from what Terry Ryan was giving them. This team is flailing away not just at the plate but have given away a lot of pieces that have had success elsewhere, they have stubbornly refused to move on from mistakes, never saw an injured player they didn't like, they have had mostly terrible drafts, pitching is a bright spot currently but was not developed as promised and instead required trading away pieces at great expense...I just don't see what it is exactly after 7 years that this front office does well?
  7. Yes, but he can.....actually hit? You know, in between the strikeouts?
  8. It would be one thing if it was just the bad performance from Mr.-currently-sitting-at-a-77 OPS+, but he has acted like a complete primadonna on top of it when what he should be doing is anything he can to save his precarious roster spot: 1) refuses to play center field when doing so would allow them to have Wallner up and contributing something to this putrid offense - check 2) refuses to go on rehab assignments when again, it would allow them to get a halfway decent hitter up for at least a week and a half - check 3) refused to get vaccinated leaving them shorthanded when they had to play in Canada during the covid years - check This is just the stuff that's become public, but I think it paints enough of a picture you can fill in the rest of the blanks.... he's a PITA on and off the field.
  9. Kepler: hey, why was my flight to Tampa rerouted through Frankfort? Anybody with functioning eyeballs: Auf wiedersehen, Kep!
  10. Man I really hope they can get out of their own way with this. Just take one of the top 5 you aren't smarter than everybody else!
  11. Tigers in the playoffs would be a fun story. I'm rooting against the Twins at this point.
  12. Miranda and/or Martin are not going to get Burnes. Try Lewis/Lee for starters.
  13. If there is any poetry in the world, Cuzzi will be reborn as a futbol referee in South America. They believe in accountability there!
  14. Cut Pagan, Moran and Alcala to minors, Stewart, De Leon, Headrick in those roles for now, aim for big relief arms at the deadline, but keep the revolving door revolving until then. Finding someone better than Solano to take that role should be doable. 10000 rakes is great but need to know when to cut bait.
  15. "This was just the third time in Twins history that they have had back-to-back 10-run games. The last time was April 24th and 25th, 1996." This didn't sound right to me so I checked - they haven't had back to back wins by 10+ runs since 1996, but they have had back to back 10+ run games as recently as 2019, when they did it multiple times.
  16. You look at the pitching leader boards, they do have more than a few guys getting the job done. SOs? Pablo Lopez. ERA? Sonny. Wins? Joe Ryan. Refreshing for sure after all those years in the wilderness. Something a little more satisfying about a team that gets it done with pitching.
  17. Really like Sonny, you can tell he thinks about this stuff A LOT. I hope they figure out a way to keep him for a few more years.
