  1. "We wanted the big rebrand, but they wouldn't take our money. East Coast guy. We were runner up for the big one. This rebrand is our kinda rebrand. Gonna work his tail off and rebrandsie gonna take the ball every fifth day and you will probably not notice much..."
  2. He's been much worse than Colome, who had a bad April last year and was largely decent after that. They were right to wash their hands of that mess and it would be vomit inducing not to lose Pagan's agent's number too. I don't think it's all that much of a stretch to say he single handedly tanked their season insofar as you can point to any one player on the roster.
  3. The injuries have become the biggest problem/question mark in my mind at this point, now multiple years into this without a solution, and I have no idea how you fix that other than hoping for better luck or auditing your medical staff/procedures (which, if they haven't already been looking at closely, it's a dereliction of duty by the front office). It's just impossible to adequately plan a roster while losing starters and others you were counting on in significant roles for extended periods at the clip they've been losing them. They will have a lot of money again this offseason, they at least better spend it. And they need to give up the 'sign whatever falls into our lap at a discount by the end of the offseason' strategy they've been employing, because that isn't working. Target the guys you actually want, and be aggressive. I'm sick of hearing the excuse that they don't want to come here. That's been the case with a couple over the years perhaps (Wheeler is one that comes to mind), but overpay if you have to and most will be happy to sign with the Twins. That's a bogus Terry Ryan line he used to feed the media to cover his a$$ but clearly Falvine aren't above taking a couple pages out of the old playbook.
  4. If Mahle needs TJ, he's missing all of next year and that means the Twins lost three high end prospects for basically two starts and change. I expect they'd be able to sign a guy like that cheaply in free agency, but they also could have done the same thing by letting the Reds worry about it and not losing anybody.
  5. This team is terrible. Absolutely no point pushing Buck. This team is more lethargic than some of those god-awful mid 2010s teams that had a fraction of the talent. I hope they clean house this off-season (on the field and off).
  6. Who's that pitching in the bullpen in that top picture? Twins haven't had a guy yet with dreds that I can recall. It's about time!
  7. Of the games he's lost or blown (6 I think, and counting), even a league average reliever gets out of what, charitably....four of them? Twins should be up two on Cleveland right now instead of the other way around.
  8. The outcomes are not even suspenseful...only thing in doubt is how he's going to do it on any given night (usually homer)
  9. I wrote this somewhere else but I'll say it again because I never heard anyone else mention it. Aaron Sanchez accepted the assignment to AAA. Was any consideration given to trying him as a reliever? I realize he only pitched 5 innings for the Twins but he still has good velocity and to my eyes he had an absolutely filthy breaking ball. It had that tight snap that Duffey had back when he was still effective a few years ago....
  10. Assuming Joe Ryan is going to work out still seems questionable to me. He's been very good for stretches but gets exposed by good lineups....he's going to be happy to be leaving the west coast methinks. He's never had dominant stuff which was why he wasn't highly regarded as a prospect and I don't think the possibility can be ignored that the league will figure him out. I'm fine with Sonny Gray as one of their top two or three but I think you have to expect he is going to spend some time on the IL here and there. Mahle will be good in theory pitching in more favorable conditions but he's yet to actually show us anything (and the first start was not encouraging). What's that leave you with? Paddack and Maeda, both coming back from major injuries (and Paddack didn't exactly look like a world beater before that), and to a lesser extent Ober and Winder (who in addition to coming back from lesser injuries haven't proven much yet). I think they need to roll that Correa opt-out money into a higher end starter. Any of Rodon, Eovaldi, or Bassitt would make me happy. Now if Lewis hits another snag with the injury or just isn't mlb SS material by the time he returns they are going to have another problem... but I guess they jump off that bridge when they get there.
  11. I don't think there's any way Archer or Bundy are back. When is Paddack expected back?
  12. Who would Washington want 30 year old Sano or Urshela? If either Montas or Bell end up on the twins, expect to say goodbye to multiple of the Kiriloff, Miranda, Gordon, Larnach group, plus any of Steer, Encarnacion-Strand, etc etc. Gonna hurt!
  13. Please, the people running MLB are just as bad. They're probably exchanging notes.
  14. Oh I have been betting against them too... Doing much better in those games!
  15. It was idiotic to use Duffey there. Anybody can see what he is throwing is going to get lit up. I was yelling at the screen as soon as I saw they were warming him up. No bite on his breaking ball anymore. Just lazy 86 mph meatballs he lobs over the plate. He shoulda been taken out after the first bp homerun he gave up to Perez. Just embarrassing. The 2020 version of him is long gone, and he should not be given high leverage innings until he makes some changes. I was also yelling at Watkins before Sanchez even rounded third. What the hell is that guy doing? This wasn't as bad as the Sano send the other day where he was out by 10 feet, but makes absolutely no sense to push your luck in that situation. I had 40 bucks on both those games Duffey lost single handedly so far! Should not bet on teams you care about. I need to stick to prop bets on random Pirate games.
  16. Most of these guys weren't even on the team this year, or were hurt. Nobody is claiming they had a successful staff this year. C'mon. The writer is trying to draw some lines through recent signings that mostly worked out. And why to people still bother to make the "cheap pohlads" comment? It's like complaining that water is wet.
  17. Kershaw will just go back to LA for less money. Verlander is also going somewhere high profile and isn't coming to MN either. I'd gladly eat the phone I typed this on if either of them did.
  18. Nick Cave is a lot things but guy "who sings love songs" is....not how I'd describe it. Wasn't active in the 70's either. Nick Drake maybe?
