Kirilloff Wrist "to the point he Couldn't Swing"

Stinky news as it relates to the Twins, Alex Kirilloff and injuries.

As you can see from Do's tweet, He's been fighting it again, hasn't been aggressive at the plate, and "it's to the point where he couldn't swing."

Honestly, just feel horrible for Kirilloff. Works hard. Immensely talented. So much offensive potential and terrific 1B defense.

What should they do? Another cortisone shot? Go see the expert again? Surgery? Rehab? Rest? Uggh!

Love the guys skills, but that wrist is scary. I was hoping they'd use him to land a big fish,  but that ain't happening now.   Bummer for the kid.

This isn't looking very promising. His career might be in real trouble. Let's hope this turns out to be a minor setback.

I know it goes against the grain, but when we looked at trade candidates I chose Kiriloff, before the IL because he has such a long record of injuries and we already have Buxton and a load of injured pitchers.  As much as I like AK's abilities - I do not see him able to stay on the field.  But now he is IL his trade value is nil so I just hope he gets well and comes up and gives us some good games.

Bad luck for AK and poor timing for the Twins because 1) he is a bat to respect when healthy; and 2) I believe he had high value if the Twins were willing to trade him. This hurts because the outfield options are becoming slim.  I'm afraid that now the Twins will be shutout when it comes to adding any potential pitchers too.

Mostly though it is a total bummer for Alex as he has looked to take a significant role in the Twins season.

Do the surgery. These temporary solutions are not working.  Hopefully Kepler or Larnach will be back soon to replace his bat in the lineup.

Didn't he already have wrist surgery last year?

Awful news, in any case.

If this is a chronic condition with no remedy, I really feel sorry for the kid.  He has SO much potential.  It also puts the Twins in a difficult position for trades.  With what once looked like a surplus of young hitters with Lewis, Kirilloff, Larnach, and Miranda is now down to Miranda, at least he is the only one who thus far (knock on wood) has avoided injury.  I am not sure who they can use to trade for a significant pitcher.  I certainly wouldn't listen on Miranda and given the injury uncertainty surrounding the other three, I would be hesitant to part with CES or Wallner until I knew the injured group were going to be ok.  It will be interesting to see what the Twins do in the next 48 hours.

Twins outfielders are trying soooooo hard to get Jake Cave back to the major leagues!

As well as Cave has been doing for the Saints, Celestino should be a bit worried.

Jake Cave in his first two years had a 112 OPS+. Jake Cave for his career has a positive OOA and UZR. He had a disabling stress fracture in his back and could not hit before or after but worked  hard to get back and found success in AAA. If he is back to a league average or better bat and an average outfield glove he is worthy of a roster spot.

The persistent ridiculing is tiresome.

How about Wallner?

Not a good time of year to bring a rookie up for a look-see, unless there are zero options.

Rookies came up last year, when Twins were long out of it and were far from reachng status-quo, at that , with the continual injuries todays rookies (and veterans) seem to have some thing has really changed in the past thirty years.

Gio will be back Monday I would expect, so that would provide a 13th position player for now.

It’s been obvious that he (Kirilloff) hasn’t been driving the ball for some time.
