Disingenuous? Have you watched Archer this year?

He literally runs into a wall nearly every start. Early in the year they could let him go 4 and if/when he got himself into trouble there were 4-5 arms that could at least get 3 outs and bail him out. Now? The Twins have maybe 2 reliable arms. The regular season is a marathon; you can't hide guys for an entire year. We're seeing in real time what happens when you do.

In June, he contributed 27 innings with a 1.67 ERA and held opponents to a .156 batting average

Then, he hit the IL and he's now pitched just twice since.

So yes. It is absolutely disingenuous to characterize today's season-low 3 IP, season high 6 BB, season high 6 ER outing as what he does "most days."

If 'we ain't goin nowhere' doesn't that mean we're going to stay in first place? ?

He looked pathetic today. I'm not arguing that.

He pitched better for the entire month of June than any other Twins pitcher and we've only seen him twice since, so we can overreact as much as we like, but if you proclaim every starter "cooked" and cut them all after one bad outing, you'd have already discarded every starter in the league.

He has averaged exactly 4.0 innings a start and is 2-4 on the year, soon to be 2-5.  Cut after one bad outing, only 3 outings has he gone a full 5 and that has to been his highest.  He doesn't deserve a rotation spot, he is at middle relief status at best.  No wins April, May or July.  His only 2 wins came in June.

We could go somewhere if we fix the issues on this team

He was still the same guy. Throws too many balls, uncompetitive pitches. Luck has helped him plenty early. I'll stand by what I said, cooked.

Lol fair enough, I should have specified “in October”

Ok let me know how we plan to acquire 5-6 pitchers by the deadline

SSS

Look at his ball and strike percentage. I don't know what it was but, my guess, still not good. This is why watching the game and not just a clipboard still has merit.

Good lord, they’re not even trying anymore

They're in 'rocco mode".................don't attempt anything that may result in an owwww-eeee, or anything that builds your baseball IQ.

Are they blaming or giving credit to the opening of the roof?

I don't know if they still apply, but roof rules used to be 1) only opens at beginning of inning .

Oh it’s possible. I guarantee you that.

You are entitled to your own opinion and you choose pretty safe ground when you continually call any player cooked, because you'll eventually be right with every player.

I personally saw a lot more potential upside in Archer's pitching a few week's ago than I've seen in any other member of this rotation. The strategy seemed to be slowly build him up in hopes that he can be a reliable starter by the time the playoffs arrive. If they prove unable get Archer back on track, I personally don't see much hope for this team.

I mean, maybe Joe Ryan can start every game of a playoff series.

Need mercy rule.  4 more innings of this, is not right. Of course, I could change channels or fall off roof, removing satellite dish

Doesn’t get any easier, San Diego is next

It'll be easier to get Blake Snell or Sean Manaea or whomever has a salary SD is trying to dump, back on the plane to Minnesota.

I mean, yeah I’m sure you could find that many people who throw pitches. Highly doubtful you’re going to find that many above average arms. How many teams are still alive? 20? Lots of buyers

Anyone notice Brewer batters working the counts? Pretty obvious yesterday. Especially obvious today.

Could Archer be a finer arm out of the pen?

Not that the Twins are suddenly flooded with starters as it looks like Winder will be out for awhile.

Chi Chi still available?

I can see the headline, "Twin's poor play leads to another dish-related injury".
