stringer bell Verified Member Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 Apparently the weather that we had in SE Minnesota on Wednesday has made it's way to Michigan. Both games of the doubledheader have been postponed. I do not know how they will make this up, but we can all focus on the off-the-field news (players rehabbing, Buxton negotiating extension).
jorgenswest Verified Member Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 I wonder if the 40 man move to add Barnes was official or it is paperwork teams do just prior to games.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 Just read that one of the games that was to be played today will be played tomorrow ... so, a split double header tomorrow ... with the same pitchers that were to go today (Barnes and Maeda) at 12:10pm and 5:10pm CT. The other game that was to be played today will be played on Aug. 30, at 1:10pm CT. https://www.mlb.com/twins/news/twins-tigers-july-16-doubleheader-postponed
wavedog Verified Member Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 Well, a reverse Ernie Banks I guess - let's not play 2 - but we will play 2 tomorrow! Was looking forward to a nice distraction from work on Friday afternoon and seeing Charlie Barnes pitch.
Number3 Verified Member Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 Good news, 1 more day's rest. Bad news less rest later. A split tomorrow is no good. Too late to tread water.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 One more day of all star break! At least Detroit is also rained out, so we won't lose ground in the standings to them...
mikelink45 Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 We continue a streak of not losing! Could this be the answer to our season, more all star games, more rain outs! Keep it coming.
LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 Triple header tomorrow, Three 5 inning games
LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 Free MLB extra innings for a few days

bighat Verified Member Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 Ugh. So even though tomorrow is a "split" double header, it's still 7 innings each?

Platoon Verified Member Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 The Twins canning afford to miss out on playing Detroit. We need to clean up on teams that are worse than we are! WHAT? We are behind Detroit in the standings? How can that be?
strumdatjag Verified Member Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 Good. Bump another game until after the trade deadline. That way the Twins are more likely to keep trade-able players healthy. Then, after the deadline, we get another game to start evaluating the future!!!!!

HMMM, Detroit is: w 5 L 1 vs Seattle W 5 L 2 vs Houston W 2 L 0 vs St. Louis W 3 L 3 vs New York W 7 L 6 vs Kansas City W 4 L 9 vs Chicago For what it is worth: Happ has the two shortest game time wins for Minnesota and Thorpe and Berrios have the two shortest game time losses.?
