Jake Reed continues his trip around the majors. After appearing in a half-dozen games with the Dodgers after toiling in the Twin system forever , he was grabbed by Tampa Bay who allowed him a single Triple-A appearance before needing 40-man roster room. Now the Mets have grabbed the former Twins high draftee. He started the season with the Angels system.

I don't follow this thread closely, but did anyone see Danny Valencia is playing on the Olympic team?

I still wish we had heard Dark Star's story about him.

Rosario was traded to the Braves in exchange for Pablo Sandoval, who the Cleveland Baseball Team immediately released. Must have been the easiest way to offset some salary.

And the Rays took a further hit to their pitching depoth, losing their second of two former Twins that they waivered off the roster, Sean Poppen joins the Diamondbacks, after pitching just 5+ innings this year in the majors for the Rays and the Pirates. Former Twins relief arms are giving new meaning to the moniker "journeyman."

Think maybe we'll learn to hang on to a few of these guys? Sheez.

You did have a look at what Enns has been doing since getting a try with the Twins in 2017, yes? He's 30 now, seems to have found a little something while pitching in independent ball, the Rays are giving him a look, and next year he has a really good chance of being 31.

There was room on the Ray’s roster for Enns by DfA’ing my guy Poppen, who was then selected by another waiver priority team Arizona.

Yankees called up Luis Gil to start in Cole's place tomorrow.

The guy we traded to the Yankees for Jake Cave. And some were even talking that he would've been a good piece to send back towards the Twins if the Yankees really had an interest in Berrios.

Huascar Ynoa to the Atlanta Braves for Jaime Garcia, Anthony Recker, and cash. Garcia to the New York Yankees from whom the Twins received Zack Littell and Dietrich Enns...... essentially traded Ynoa for Recker, Littell, Enns, and cash. All gone now..... Ynoa looking like the best of the bunch, as long as he uses his hands to pitch instead of hit walls.

Marcos Diplan added to the Orioles. The guy was a cash purchase to the Twins from the Brewers back in 2019 and he spent final two weeks with the Twins, on the 40-man roster, before being waived and then claimed by the Tigers, who also tried to run him thru waivers and he was claimed by the Orioles.

Diplan replaces Shaun Anderson, who was DFA'd. Wonder which team claims him now?

Hard to call Berrios an ex-Twin..... but he is. Toronto lunges ahead as a winner in the trade so far, as Berrios is the only player helping the only team that matters, the MLB team, and on Sunday, amid no notice it seems by Twins' fans, he picks up his first win for the Blue Jays, going 6 shut out innings, giving up a paltry 5 hits and 1 walk, with 7 Ks on 95 pitches. Simeon, the shortstop we could have signed, hit his 25th homer and 66th RBI.

Just visited MLB.com and saw videos for the heroics of Cruz, Gibson, and Cron. Not complaining about FO decisions, only mentioning their success yesterday.

That's the hip hinge. Getting pitchers to hinge (bend) at the hip is very vogue right now.

One way to get that feel is if you are doing squats in the proper form (with the knees behind the toes). As pitchers gather, they bend a bit at the waist/hip and corkscrew into the back hip/upper leg. Their upper half will be able to stack behind their leg. With a proper hinge pattern, they can maintain that ground force through the entire foot as they drive home, utilizing all the leg muscles rather than becoming quad dominate (and more rotational in the back leg).

Some pitchers/athletes are much better at this movement pattern than others. Some are naturally able to move that way while others will need a lot of training/side work in order to be able execute it.

Does that give you a better idea of how that works?

I think Donaldson relieved some of his calf issues by working on this also.?

Jonathan Schoop will stay around the AL Central a bit longer. He agreed to a two-year contract extension with an opt-out after 2022. Schoop has had a fine year for the Tigers.

Philly is on a 7-game win streak.

Kyle Gibson was the winning pitcher for that first game of the streak, in his first Phillies start, then also was winning pitcher in the sixth win of the streak against the Mets yesterday.

Not necessarily the hinge pattern but trying to engage hip drive more.

I will also add that he has blamed his new leg issues on this change.

Very obscure. Greg Deichmann, an unsigned 26th round 2016 draft by the Twins, made his debut with the Chicago Cubs after spending years ion the Oakland system. draftee in the

Interesting. I find this mildly surprising but good for Schoop. He's having a pretty nice season,.
