Musk21 Community Moderator Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 Marlins recalled 1B Lewin Diaz (traded in 2019 for Sergio Romo and Chris Vallimont).

stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 Two for one ex-Twins transaction--Chase De Jong was selected by the Pirates and Ildemaro Vargas was DFAed (for like the sixth time in 12 months).
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2021 Author Posted June 1, 2021 Blankenhorn continues to ride the DFA train. He was claimed by the Mets today. For those keeping score, he’s been on the Twins, Dodgers, Mariners, and Mets in 2021.

Clearly teams want Blankenhorn... just not on their 40 man.

I feel for him being in limbo and not able to establish roots anywhere yet. At least he’s getting an MLB check and racking up the frequent flyer miles.
Rosterman Verified Member Posted June 2, 2021 Posted June 2, 2021 Travis Blankenhorn continues his trip around the major leagues, now claimed by the Mets and added momentarily to their 26-man roster. The Mets also got rid of 2016 AAA Rochester Red Wing signee Wilfredo Tovar from their system. The question, where will TRAVIS land next!
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted June 2, 2021 Posted June 2, 2021 While nobody was looking, the Tampa Bay Rays arranged for a minor trade with Pittsburgh for relief pitcher Sean Poppen. what could possibly go wrong.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted June 2, 2021 Posted June 2, 2021 Ildemaro Vargas continues the merry-go-round ride by returning to the D-Backs in a trade with the Pirates.

D. Hocking Verified Member Posted June 3, 2021 Posted June 3, 2021 Probably not exactly the right place to put this -- but technically they are ex-Twins - Mauer and Morneau look like they could still fit into their old uniforms. RandBall on Twitter: "M&M boys. Just like old times https://t.co/aqxJpnlqsL" / Twitter I think some of these retirees could possibly compete to get on the current Twins' roster. I need to check my spam folder to see if that is where evite went. Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2021 Posted June 4, 2021 Here's an obscure one - former Twins prospect Kai-Wei Teng was suspended for using foreign substances when pitching in A+ for the Giants. Teng was acquired in the Dyson trade.
lecroy24fan Verified Member Posted June 5, 2021 Posted June 5, 2021 Cleveland selected Blake Parker's contract.
Rosterman Verified Member Posted June 5, 2021 Posted June 5, 2021 Former 40-man Dakota Chalmers claimed by Cubs. We got him for Fernando Rodney back in 2018.
SanoMustGo Verified Member Posted June 6, 2021 Posted June 6, 2021 Rich Hill, anyone? He was good for the Twins last season. Good thing we spent that money on Matt Shoemaker.
Rosterman Verified Member Posted June 6, 2021 Posted June 6, 2021 The continuing journeys of Twins jettisoned from the 40-man roster. Minor League Free Agent signee and roster addition Brandon Waddell, who was claimed and pitched for the Orioles before entering waivers again, is now a St. Louis Cardinal!

Drake's FIP kept enticing everybody, I guess. He had a nice time with the Twins, though. Not sure why the Twins cut him at the first opportunity after he finally started pitching to expectations.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 Two ex-Twin items: Minaya has accepted an outright assignment to St. Paul, so he may well get another chance with the Twins. Matt Wisler Was DFAed by the Giants.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 I know they won’t, but I’d consider bringing Wisler back. Yes, he’s a one trick pony, but I’d take him over Colome.
shortround81 Verified Member Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 I don't know if this has been posted before, but it looks like Homer Bailey made Team USA's roster if Tokyo 2021 ever happens https://www.usabaseball.com/team-usa/professional-team/roster
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2021 Author Posted June 11, 2021 Giants traded old friend Matt Wisler to the Rays.
Rosterman Verified Member Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 And Chalmers has now been designated for assignment by the Cubs. Interesting to see if he continues the waiver claim route made popular by Blankenship.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 LHP Joe Beimel, brief Twin way back in 2004, has signed a minor league deal with the Padres at age 44.
Rosterman Verified Member Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Logan Morrison signed a minor league deal with the Red and will be playing first base at Louisvile. He was playing Indy Ball in New York.

The real story is the guy ahs been pretty much out of ball since 2016 and is nearing 44 years of age. He [pitched in three games for the Twins giving up 8 runs in 1.2 innings as a situational lefty, after a 49 game stint in the minors. Seven teams and 9 organizations between 1998 and 2016.
twinfan Verified Member Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Beimel is older than dirt. I don't understand that signing. I wish Blankenhorn and Wisler were back here. I suspect Wisler will help the Rays as they know how to spot pitching gems.

A good story the minor league affiliate can play up? Somebody is somebody else's brother in law? It probably doesn't move the needle on anything, and I don't spot anything in his bio to suggest a reason for him or for the team in San Antonio. The Padres probably had a need in their organization and this way of filling it will be fun in some way, I guess. They do have a couple of bullpen lefties on the IL at the moment, so a depth signing was probably called for, but merely having a pulse still isn't actually enough for a guy to get a call.
