MNT1996 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Lol are you really putting the burden of proof on me to prove that a guy who has been anywhere from good to really good his whole career except 1 year is not somewhere between good and really good? There's one person grasping at straws here. There's really no need to be reactionary to a bad 2 innings . I'll stick with the larger sample size of his track record and be confident in it. Should we get Cody Allen back up here because he has a career 3.14 ERA? Pitchers regress.
Dave The Dastardly Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 In 49 appearances in SF Dyson compiled an impressive 2.43 ERA. After two appearances in MIN, that impressive ERA has jumped up by over a run and is not looking nearly as good anymore. It's in the Minnesota water I tell you. There's some kind of let-down virus in it. It's like Minnesota Kool-Aid...

Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Wow totally changes the inning with that catch

Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Rocco pushing Romo hard here. Three of first four games already?I think he was there for the Chicago Series, no? Either way, not good. Anyone wth any worth is going to get overused here
twins1095 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 That means Dyson is a good pitcher in SF and he is below average everywhere else. Unfortunately he is going to have to play everywhere else now except SF. What about in the hitters park of Texas with a season of 70 innings pitched with a 2.43 ERA. Or the season before that between Miami and Texas with a 2.63 era. Or the season before that in Miami with a 2.15 ERA. Or do we want to go to his minor league stats because if you go back any further he's in the minor leagues... He had one bad stretch/year when he was traded to San Francisco. Otherwise he's never had an ERA above 3 in any full season in his career. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/dysonsa01.shtml Not to ruin your narrative though.... something something grasping straws something something
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Will romo still do the Gangnam style dance after a win?
twins1095 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Should we get Cody Allen back up here because he has a career 3.14 ERA? Pitchers regress. 2 appearances out of a career is good logic to base that analysis on. That's fine. Pitchers regress. Basing it off of 30 pitches is not good practice.

glunn Community Moderator Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Nice pitch by Romo -- 77 mph with great break away from the hitter.
rickybeathard Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Romo is kicking ass, and the Polanco catch was incredible, although I will say that's the type of catch that looks better at regular speed than it does in slomo.
HawksNest Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Romo is a gamer, love this guy!
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Anyway, i'm glad we are still ahead...
jz7233 Provisional Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Dyson’s not pitching now.Thank God. Romo is a good pickup. He attacks.
twins_89 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 The thing that scares me a bit with Dyson is that he completely imploded in 2017, so there's a precedent for him losing the ability to get people out.
twins1095 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Is the current year 2016 or 2019? I think you can choose any year including this one and the results will be the same. You're right though... these 0.2 innings are more reflective than years of track record both in the short-term, intermediate-term, or long-term sample of his career.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 I hope dyson figures it out. Also hope it isn’t a case of the nerves. Rare to see a vet reliever struggle that badly in consecutive appearances.
HawksNest Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Glad someone in the bullpen other than Rogers has the stones to step up and take the bull by the horns. Way to go Sergio!

SwainZag Community Moderator Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Let me tell you what I have learned from this game: 1. The front office has failed us completely. 2. We should be ashamed of this season. And Twins win. 25 games over .500. I'm so ashamed.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Winnah! That's wrap... of the chicken variety.
