Mill1634 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 TWINS WIN!!!! It wasn't easy, but it certainly wasn't exciting. Our best hitter was a 39 year old who has been crushing for years, and our best pitcher was a 36 year old who throws a 86 MPH fastball. Will be interesting to see how tomorrow is pieced together with Dyson and Romo unavailable, and Rogers probably listed as "prefer not to use." Wonder if Cron will be activated tomorrow? Need 6 from Gibby tomorrow, with myself sitting behind home plate! Huge win tonight!! Enjoy your Friday, and see y'all at Target Field tomorrow. Go Twins!!

Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 MVPs of the game: Cruz, Romo, finally some RISP hittingScapegoats: Perez, Dyson, infield defense, bullpen management?Participation trophy: May
Shaitan Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 The thing that scares me a bit with Dyson is that he completely imploded in 2017, so there's a precedent for him losing the ability to get people out. It's a valid concern, but Giles has a similar background and he was many people's top choice. I just find it comical at this point. Because I assume he'll turn it around and be above average for the bulk of Aug-Sept. Players have bad spells. His couldn't have come at a more dramatic time. And if I'm wrong, somebody else better step up. That's what teams do.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Let me tell you what I have learned from this game: 1. The front office has failed us completely. 2. We should be ashamed of this season.25 games over 500, embarrassing. Fire everyone.
twins_89 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Twins get a win with their 5th starter on the mound and Rogers unavailable. It wasn't pretty, but I'll take it.

Twodogs Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Not a great run by Dyson so far??
luckylager Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Not a great run by Dyson so far?? A. I think he will be betterB. This is why you don't get too excited about trade deadline pickups.

AlwaysinModeration Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 I’m kind of surprised by the muted levels of mutiny, pitchforks, panic!!1!, etc during this game thread. I suppose if they had lost the lead, it might have been a lot worse. Oh, and The Princess Bride and Bugs Bunny.
gil4 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Dyson got two more outs than I would have if I had pitched the same amount of innings. If you pitched the same number of innings, you would have gotten the same umber of outs (by definition.) You might have faced 60 batters, although after seeing that save by that OF on the O's, you also might have faced the minimum.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Also. Seriously? No one is going to comment on Dick Lovelady? Really? No one? What's in a name? Arrows by any other name would fly just as straight. Is he three cornered too?
Twodogs Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 A. I think he will be betterB. This is why you don't get too excited about trade deadline pickups.Yeah the first game in Miami I couldn't hardly blame Dyson as he just got off the plane it seemed like. But I just hope these first couple of outings don't affect him mentally. I hope he bounces back quickly.
bighat Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 I think he was there for the Chicago Series, no? Either way, not good. Anyone wth any worth is going to get overused here He flew to Chicago for the final game of that series but did not pitch. Good catch, that was a "day off" for him I guess!
